24hr here aswell.. should've done the lifetime/3yrs contract which would've been much cheaper in the long term!

..thinking about switching to LVAC - Las Vegas Athletic Club which is supposedly fancier and has newer & modern equipment than 24.

I'm at the "other - west of the 405 and Spectrum" location once or twice a week but usually at the Hollywood (Sunset and Vine) 24 Hr during the week. I haven't warmed up to the new Spectrum club yet, nor have I seen a single regular from the one I go to there, even though they're practically next door to each other.

The new Irvine Spectrum club opened as a Super Sport-leverl club but due to a relatively unsuccessful membership/upgrade drive, was opened to Sport-level members at no extra charge. The differences seem to be just that it's newer, larger, more aerobic-oriented re. installed fitness equipment and has day care. I was told that all future (new) 24 Hr clubs will be at the "Super" level, though.

oh you're talking about sauna's! then i say dry! :lolhit:

BTW i've had memberships with 24hr, Gold's & Bally Total Fitness... In my area down south, i definitely prefer the Gold's Gym, it has a room for Martial Arts & Boxing. great for jumping rope & cooling down after lifting... cardio right after for the extra burn! :woohoo:

I did the wet sauna tonight but for only 5 mins. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to do the dry sauna for like 20mins max.

It seems like most ppl are in the dry one than the other. Anyone notice that?

Chris, what's your daily routine? I've recently been incorporating cardio along with my workouts and wish I've done it long ago. When you do cardio I'd do some HIIT 3x/week on the threadmill and do whatever you want else than that! ..almost 1am and it's time to hit the gym.

That's good you are getting in the gym to get healthy :D. So you gained 4 lbs of good muscles or body fat :lolhit:

HIIT is great if you want to burn fat... High Intensity Interval Training...

it all depends on your goal though... i just want to drop body fat.. not necessarily get bigger muscles. tone.

therefore i do a lot more cardio than i do of lifting at the moment. once i get my stamina back then i'll go back to lifting regularly

What Jason said.. It is done by going from fast pace(sprinting) to normal/slow pace(running or jogging) repeatedly. Since I for example still have about 15-14% body fat "fit level" and my goal is to drop it around 10-12% "athletic fit level" HIIT would be the fastest and most effective way to burning fat, rather than keeping the same pace for 30-45mins of constant running/jogging by just burning about the same amount of calories in less time.... In addition to that it increases your metabolism. Your body would still be burning fat on your in between "days off" on cardio days even if your just sitting around watching TV.

This can be done for only 19 minutes total including warm-up and cool down:

5 min: walk [warm up level 3.5]
1 min: sprint [level 9]
2 min: run [level 6]
1 min: sprint [level 9]
2 min: run [level 6]
1 min: sprint [level 9]
2 min: run [level 6]
5 min: walk [cool down level 3.5]

total: 19 mins/day for 3x a week every other day.

The first time I did this early last year in two weeks straight, I've dropped 8lbs of body fat.
Then I got lazy after that and stopped, regained some fatty back and now I'm on it again. :D

I just joined Magic Johnson 24hr Fitness in Altadena. $540 for 3 years to find out 30 minutes later Costco has an offer of $300 for 2 years. I guess i have 5 days to cancel and go to costco. Before that i worked out at Ballys for 10 years and then before that the YMCA

$540 for 3yrs > $300 for 2yrs :)

3yrs@$540=$15/mo vs. 2yrs@$300=$12.50/mo
In addition Ballys will beg me back after 1 year @ $99/year so a 2 year commitment sits better with me. I'll give it a few more days maybe 24HR is worth the additional $30 per year, seems silly now.
