I agree with all of this, but will cops really pick one car out of the pack because it did not have front plate?

It also depends on what state you are in.

CA is NET 70% on driver and passenger windows

Nevada is NET 35% on D&P windows

Both states allow any VLT non-mirror from shoulders back.

Windshields are illegal below the As-1 line in all states.

Those who choose to enforce it can and will...

You'll be fine, i made it to Mfest and back from Seattle last year without any issues, just gotta be smart how and WHERE you drive.

Yes, put it this way....you don't want to give them a reason. It will save you a lot of headache later.

Based on my experience last year, I would have a V1 or comparable detector, not drive like an idiot, and NEVER be a lead car. No matter how fast you go, there will always be someone who passes you at a more ridiculous speed. Also, cops were pretty much at every overpass once we got onto the 15. Your V1 or other detector will constantly be going off.

I live here in Vegas and have limo tint on all my windows, i have never been pulled over for tint, and driven next to metro who look over at my windows more times then i can count, I'm pretty sure the cops are VERY understandable with tint since it gets upwards of 115+ degree's here in the summer and it helps keep cars cool, Almost every car here has tinted windows.

But for the record the "law" is as:

• Front Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
• Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
• Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

So i wouldn't worry about tint much, or exhausts considering how many Ferrari's and Lamborghini's are on the strip everyday, just don't speed. They are very sensitive to speeders even just a few over the limit.

:thankyou: Well said. There's no need to rush as we'll all eventually get there. Let's get there safely so EVERYONE can enjoy a fun weekend of cars, cars, cars and more cars!

Previous Mfest caravans was pretty crazy. Came close to getting rear ended a few times from tailgaters. Don't start the weekend of Mfest with a damaged front end.

Now with that said, lets get ready to have a BLAST!

We will be joined by the CHP for our whole ride up. No getting around it. Last year they had two planes and a slew of cars along the whole trip.

One thing I noticed is things can quickly get out of hand. One guy baits another guy to run they go and a few others follow and bam over a hundred before you know it. Try not to take the friendly bait. It's a long drive and you don't want to ruin MFEST weekend with a nasty ticket. The issue is with a huge caravan we stand out bigtime! It sucks but everyone has got to be chill.

This is a repost but for those that haven't seen it, this is from last year:

Well, last year they were popping people for that stuff just make a point that they were watching the caravan. It was a small percentage of the total cars, but it was happening.

You can always ziptie it to the front grill for the drive just to be safe and then snip it off in Vegas.

I live here and i have been pulled over before for it, luckily i had my plate in my glove box and i told the CHP that i was waiting on my front bracket to come in from the dealership. He let me go with a warning and i never put it on and haven't been bugged about it since.

So i know for a fact they will stop you for that if they are looking for a excuse to pull you over. I would say just bring it with you and give them some excuse around what i said, they are pretty nice if you just respectfully tell them.

One thing that I have noticed for the past couple of years is that when we leave Jean and start up to the strip on the frontage road, there tends to be a "rubber band" effect. People speed up, then slow down, and many times even stop. Watch the cars in front of you, as they may stop quickly, and everyone behind the stopped cars have to react quickly. We don't need any rear end accidents. That will ruin those new license plate brackets! :)

I think a lot of that was from people revvving through the camera guys positions on the side of the road. A lot of people stopped and then gunned it past the cameras ( I admit I did it too hehe). So maybe that might end up happening again. :iono:

MFEST brothers and sisters,

lets keep it simple... all you need to remember is to DRIVE SAFELY: Keep your eyes on the road at all times, keep a safe distance (DO NOT TAILGATE) and most of all NO RECKLESS MANEUVERS (i.e. weaving in and out). We at MFEST wont hesitate to send you home and ban you from the event if we receive confirmed reports of your irresponsible and dangerous behavior. The last thing we want is one BAD APPLE to ruin the fun for everyone. It is a caravan with your fellow enthusiasts and definitely not a race. If you wanna go toe-to-toe with another car, we have the Las Vegas Drag Strip and Track for you to show everyone your driving skills and whats under your hood.

As for driving with heavy tints and no liscense plates, we leave that up to you. All we're saying here is that we are giving you the opportunity of saving yourself from trouble of getting pulled over. Once we hit the road, people on the freeway will take notice of our PRESENCE. From previous experience (4 MFEST events), once the NUMEROUS call from "concerned citizens" come in, the Highway Patrol will be keeping a close eye on all of us and will be watching our every move. We will do our best to drive under their radar but minor issues (like tints and front liscense plates) at times can be enough reason to be cited.

That said, lets all be vigilant. Lets police our ranks and please do report unruly behavior when you spot them. Lets all get to Vegas safe and sound 'coz thats where all the real fun stuff begins :D

So I take it that Las Vegas PD and Nevada Highway Patrol really likes to pull over for front plate and tint... Will just zip tie and drive with the windows down. lol

It's the CHP that will enforce the tint and front plate issues. If you've noticed, there are MANY Nevada vehicles with no front plate, and even the NHP have tinted windows, all the way around. Let's just say that things get "mo betta" in Nevada...... "'Nuff said"! Once you hit the Nevada state line, you're golden...... :neener:

Regardless of whether you're speeding or not it's nice to know where the cops are, so anyone who has an iPhone should run RadarActive. Search for RadarActive on the App Store. http://radaractive.com/

I'll be running it with the V1 hooked up to it, but you don't need the V1 to report speed traps, you can do it through the iPhone too. I don't recommend doing it while driving (you can actually get a ticket for texting or whatever in CA now too), have your passenger submit the reports.

The more people who submit reports the more useful it is.
