It depends on the previous owner, to be safe get one under 50,000 miles... If there is regular oil changes about every 4,000 miles, and plenty of service records for it then you are good to go... Also check if the gear oil has been changed and make sure the S/C isnt going out... S/c usually will go out if it is starved of lubrication... the s/c gear will be grinding and make a noise...

BTW are you looking at buying one ? :D It will be a great track choice if so! Drop 15 grand for the car and 10 grand on service and mods and your mini will be ballin! 15% S/C pulley($100), Lightweight flywheel and fx300 clutch($680), RMW head($3000), RMW Cam($400), RMW Tune($450), RMW header($900), Water meth kit ($400) and RMW Exhaust($800) as far as power goes (280+hp in a car weighing 2,600lbs) for 6 grand or if your on a budget you can get 250hp for 3 grand... 2-3 grand for cross coilovers (the best for mini), or 300$ for texas speed werks springs and koni shocks ($600), 19mm rear sway($200), Texas speed werks X brace ($300), rear strut brace ($150), front strut brace ($150) and Alta PSRS($300)...

Not many can take you on the track/canyons with that setup... That is even better than jans setup that stuck with the nissan gtr @ willow...

And so the question emerged...! :D Do it, you won't regret the Mini! For somebody who loves to mod their cars, Mini will get you more bang for your buck. E90 M3... nice but costly! My $0.02...

I say if Nstg8tr is up for it, and randy is up for It, I am willing to let you drive my car around and see how you like it... Ill get the suspension and rear camber dialed in and re-aligned... the e9X M3 is nice but if you want MPG, Modability, and spend like 30 grand less get the mini...

The killer on the e92 M3 is gas mileage. Can't come close to a MINI.

Believe me, gas mileage is always last priority on my list when it comes to cars, but these days, it is a factor to consider. Having driven HEMI's 5.7L, V8 Mustang Cobra, V8 Ford GT Mustang, '70 Pontiac GTO, '01 Supercharged Tahoe 5.3L, I am not one that usually looks at mileage, for a performance car. But MINI's tend to get amazing mileage. And are about 100x more fun than a Prius.
