My wife was driving my e90 from Michigan to Texas yesterday and ran into a little car trouble. She said she was driving and the car started shaking and the engine sounded like it was idling rough and it eventually stalled. She got it towed to a shop and rented a car to complete her trip to the Ft Hood area. My car was left in Texarkana at a shop and wont be troubleshot/ worked on till Tuesday (4th of July weekend). I'm deployed to Iraq so all I can do from here is make educated guesses as to what is causing the car to stall, and I don't want my wife to get taken advantage of by this (or any) shop.

Maybe bad fuel? My friend said Michigan gas contains 30% ethanol. Possibly just dump some Lucas fuel additive in the tank?

Maybe clogged fuel filter? A while back I rubbed a hole into my fill tube when my beautiful (sarcasm) H&R spring perch broke, causing the rear of my car to be lowered all the way. Since then i haven't got it properly fixed. Possibly dirt got into the tank and clogged the filter.

Anyways, if there is anyone who could help my wife and I competently troubleshoot this, I would be tremendously thankful.

If it was idling rough it could be the fuel injector or ig. coils. Hope you get your problems resolved!
