hey im new to mfest and looking for some help. just bought my 95 e36 a few weeks ago ive been hooking it up. just reupholster the front seats looks great.

im looking to rebuild the engine and throw on a turbo and custom exhaust. ive been searching for turbo kits online but cant seem to find what im looking for. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a reliable turbo at a decent price. im looking to get it to 400+HP

Welcome to the fam! post up some pics of your ride.

If you want something you can drive daily with no worries or hesitations and still make great power, supercharged is the way to go. No lag lets you feel that HP/torque lower in the rev range where you drive most of the time....unless you like to drive flatout everywhere you go :drive2:

Don't get me wrong, turbo is hard to beat in terms of making power and boost. If you're decided on going turbo, look up TT technique tuning. Member BlazinM3 has one with built internals, maybe he can chime in.

this is all new to me.. my first nice car. what are the real differences between supercharged and turbo. would i be able to achieve 400+hp with a supercharger and will it hold up as well? i really want to go turbo.. but most of the kits i see are either dirt cheap ****ty on ebay or like 5grand. im looking to spend between 2-3000.

here are some pics :)

just got the seats reupholstered.. they were all ripped up. still waiting on a few pieces

Those are the cleanest Dove vaders I've seen in awhile. Hit up leatherz.com if you want a fresh armrest cover.

The motor is the limiting factor in terms of "holding up" to power. Just remember, your motor's stock internals are max'd at around 11-12psi. After that $$$ for internals/labor.

If you're looking to spend around $2-3k you're mostly likely going to have to find a good used turbo setup, or even better, add like $5-800 and get a brand new VF engineering s/c and be rid of any unavoidable/unforeseen expenditures with getting a used kit (turbo or supercharger) and be able to drive everyday with no worries. Just say no to ebay kits..

Not true true. Technica is running 18psi with just studs and MLS that is 450rwhp depending on intake and exhaust setup.

OP your choices on turbo kits are very limited but both are very reputable companies.
•Technique Tuning from Nick G run around 7-8k
•TRM is cheaper 5-6k but currently only for obd1 or converted.
• Technica Motorsport is 5800 for OBDII and OBDI

Stock internals are good for 450rwhp over 500 is when you want a built bottom end. Good luck with everything.

rightfttc is right.
but if you want torque go turbo. im running a trm turbo kit with a gt35r..

im around 460whp and 470wtq with arp studs, and mls cometic gasket .0140

You cant just slap on a turbo kit to a stock motor, things need to be done. such as compression tests, head gasket, and studs at the least

Didn't know they were running 18psi. Thanks for the info! What's the take on daily reliability/driveability? TIA.
