had a journal going for sometime on another m3 forum, so i've just C+P'd it from there
the start
Well i purchased my M3 just over 3.5 years ago. Spent alot of time trawling the usual places looking for the right one.
Had my Heart set on Black on Black (its abit of a running theme with past cars and bikes) The bit which was hard to find was this combo in Manual
It was actually my other half (Katie K) who found the car for me when i was down in the dumps after being let down on another one i had put a deposit down on.
lucky for me the original owner had spent a small fortune on a couple of genuine Ac Schnitzer parts from BMW when the car was ordered.
IT can with a full carbon front splitter and full carbon roof spolier(these had been coloured coded aswell) and not forgetting the black dtm grills (also colour coded)
This is how she looked on arrival

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_10051.jpg
next came a set of Umnitza predator Chromium angel eyes from CA-auto, these have a remote wiring kit so they turn on when you unlock the car
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/liddldevil/e46%20m3/IMG_2007.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/liddldevil/e46%20m3/IMG_2008.jpg
I also got rid of the shocking ghost style number plates and order some LED rear light and a black badge kit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1068.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1065.jpg
at this pint i was still missing the facelight boot lid inner lights
I always had my eye out for one exhaust in partcular and that was a Eisenmann. they are around £1300 new. A friend told about one on pistonheads.
So i got straight on the net to have a look, the ad was 60 days old and thought i had no chance of it not being sold, it was also a bargain at £450, i pm'd the guy anyway.
Had a result he still had it, though well he has had it for a while i'll be cheeky, i offered him £350. he took it and delivered it. It came with the reciept and it was only 3 months old. Result!!
its a race version with 76mm tips

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/PB230473.jpg
Next was a Alpine IVA-W202R double din head unit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1073.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1071.jpg
got my hand on a bezel for it and a dodgy fitting kit which didn't really work out so i ended up making my own
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/05012008215.jpg
also had to order part number 12 to relocate the A/C unit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/78.png
while i was doing the install i got abit of whoring of the car and race bike in
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1074.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1074.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1077.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1078.jpg
The install was a total pain in the arse due to having to butcher the heater box, but it all worked out in the end
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_0698.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_0706.jpg

Rouge Engineering Octane Short Shifter Kit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1558.jpg
the SSK is awesome, works soo well, but was a total pain to fit. lost of swearing and cut fingers. At this time i removed the carbon induction and refitted the standard air box with a uprated BMC filter, the car ran soo much better
As time went by i was always keeping my eye out for wheels, i have always lusted after some genuine Ac Schnitzer type III racings but they are rare as rocking horse poo and pretty much gave up on trying to get them, i even bought a set of CSL's for the car, i did the deal and then these came up, So i went up with Katie and Dip's and bought them home

i managed to wear a hole in my drivers side mat. was about to bite the bullet on some oem bmw mats but instead hooked up a set of these genuine beauties, also in shot are my BMW performance pedal set. The mats are sooo plush, thicker than the BMW items aswell
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1931.jpg
also a pick of my boot release that i retro fitted. i believe only the yanky cars have these as standard
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1934.jpg
Next up. A new M3 steering wheel, brand new fresh out the box, can't beat the feeling of a brand new wheel
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1932.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1933.jpg
now back to the strut brace, I bought it thinking it was genuine, but it wasn't, it was just a ACS style brace, was still a lovely bit of kit, she went to a new home. But i now have the pucker item now along with a new rocker cover and oil cap
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1935.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1955.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/album%202/IMG_1973CR2.jpg
I got sick of the crap quality of aftermarket smoked corner such as depo's, my last set broke and fell out not happy.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/24082009048.jpg
I then went through the process of trying to find a set the same as the ones i had, my old ones had the slatted lines all the way across them like the OEM ones. i like this look and i'm not really a fan of the smoked depo's most people have with the big clear patch in the middle. So back to the drawing bored. i looking into window tinting film, but it just fell apart when heat got on to it. Then i ordered some lamin-xI went for the lightest tint. When first fitting them I imediatley wanted the darker, then after a few days had passed and i loved the slightly lighter look.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1987CR2.jpg

and some whorage
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_1996CR2.jpg
and finally just a couple of pics to ***** from a bluewater meet, i ditched the front plate at last. The paint is still looking pretty good.

well i got s few bits done tonight, i removed the front bumper and acs diffuser for paint, test fitted the new grills fro CPD, these are also going to paint with a few other small bits
I then gave the rear coilovers a quick over haul
drop the strut out
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/cabf4529.jpg
this strut has a years worth of use and about 10k on it, still looks like new and the d2 stuff is really holding up well
I then gave it a quick clean and protected the treads with scotoil 365 spray, i did the same with the spring and collar, i then stripped the d2 top mount and rebuit with the Rogue RSM's for the CA group buy
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/b9f87cab.jpg
then got the reinforment plate fitted
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/17791f9d.jpg
fitted
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/8eefe349.jpg
i'll tackle the rtab'S and limiters next along with the new angels and lenses, then move to the front end.
Tonight i also inspected the subframe, and to me it looks like the car has already had the repair before my 4 years of ownership, the car is soooo clean underneath, am really quiet shocked how clean and tidy it is
................................
A quick update
Firstly a huge huge thank you to forum member KeithS. He picked up and delivered a few parts from BMW for me. Including front control arm bushes and RTAB's. Also have a e46 Genuine ACS footrest from Bruno's car. The one currently in my car is actually a e36 model which will now go into the M3 GT as that already has geuine ACS pedals but need the footrest to match
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c06c9e4d.jpg
Got the car up in the air. Bumper is off for paint but still waiting to get it to the painters after bring let done on a paint job. Got another painter lined up and hope to get the stuff in this week.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/027efeea.jpg
Decided to tackle the front wishbone bushes, got the undertray and metal tray removed and drop the control arm down
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/5d469b46.jpg
Then started removing the old bush with a 3 prong puller, placed a oil drain underneath because these bushes are oil filled
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/5e751180.jpg
Bush removed and clean with hd degreaser and then given a coating if fairy liquid
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/e4821b93.jpg
Add more fairy liquid to the new bush and forced on
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/f7f6290c.jpg
Got it bolted back up, did the other side and then refitted all trays. I then though it replace the broken xenon level sensor arm with the new item that I got from stealer
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/a77cc45e.jpg
Removed the old broken clamp and then. ..... The new one broke as I wa doing it up! Great. BMW quality parts!!!
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/098e8457.jpg
Anyway hope to get more done this week
........................
Ok managed a couple of quick jobs to tick of the list before the light went tonight
Rtabs was the flavour of the day. So jacked her up, and dropped the control arms
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/bc38e9fc.jpg
The old bush had seen better days. Notice the cracks around the edge. Also it is a old style bush so it needed to come out and be replaced with the revised design from the csl
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/db605ed0.jpg
Started pulling the old out
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/409c2c6f.jpg
Out and cleaned wish HD degreaser and sandpaper. I was also coated in copper grease before the new bush was installed
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c85677c7.jpg
New bush started it's was in through the compression tube to squeeze the outta band together
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c10899cd.jpg
Through enough to go in without the compression tube
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/7d04091e.jpg
Pusher in to leave 2mm of th collar exposed
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/50d051bd.jpg
Was given these a long time ago, just been waiting to fit new RTAB's to fit them. They are a rogue engineering bush limited kit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c2439e7a.jpg
Fitted in the cradle. Preload set and torqued up
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/f496ecdb.jpg
Bolted back up and repeated on the other side. Also got the mid pipe unbolted. Came off a treat due to me changing all the bolts under the car for stainless steel bolts about 2-3 years ago.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next installment

works soo well with spacer, no worried about hub centric jobbies now. Also putting wheels on is much much easier and you don't bash the brakes when doing it
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/597e5be1.jpg
then dropped the oil
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_2392.jpg
its wasn't to bad, still had abit of colour to it, gave the car a dealership oil service, oil filter and pollen filter
also change the vanos filter which was still very clean, but i had taken it out, so i just changed it, this is the old one.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_2394.jpg
And lastly go the mid-pipe off, this will be replaced with SS section on sunday

All my parts are back from paint. They did. Great job. I'll grab some pics over the weekend
And the wheels have arrived. But I haven't seen them yet. So keep you eyes peeled for some pics being posted up

got my rubber ordered on friday and they will be fitted to new rim on Saturday coming
I also went and collected the brackets for my Ap's that my friend Ian made.
MY calipers and discs came off a e9x non M. all that is needed to fit them is a new set of bracket, AP will sell you new brackets for a kidney a liver and 10 goats, instead i got a loaner bracket of a friend on m3cutters and then had them copied
he even found a AP box to put them in lol

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c7bbb252.jpg
After that i run my rims round to a friends to store them for a week till the rubber is fitted, he placed them in his "Wheel Room"
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/dd69fbca.jpg
Brake will be fitted tomorrow along with what ever else i can get done. spent the morning working on my other halfs E36 M3 GT2, was overhauling Her AP BBK

well the rain did stop and manage to get the last of the big jobs done
Stipped off the old brakes and fitted up the brackets Ian made for me, fitt was perfect

first off i dropped the eisenmann off the car, then i gave the next backbox a wd40 clean
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5577.jpg
its is a full Titanium Dixis backbox. it weighs nothing. i can hold the whole thing out horiztanlly with one hand holding the tips, its that light.
the welding is some of the best i have seen, i have dealt with alot of titanium pipe work with all the bikes i work on. and this is some of the best work i have seen.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5579.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5580.jpg
i then removed the rear bumper to replace a kncakerd PDC sensor, nice easy job

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/ef17a04d.jpg
then i was time to finish modifiying the top on my front coilovers so i could fit a closed top brace, so back on went my genuine acs brace, love having this back on
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5587.jpg

dixis sounds great, still pretty quiet at a stand still which suprised me
got a few finishing touches done today
first up i tackled the new oil seperator, it had started using abit of oil so this was straight on the list for changing, stripped down the engine cover
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/5d7e58bd.jpg
and fitted the new seperator
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/ff934230.jpg

I also fitted a new AC belt aswell
when fitting my angels i rushed the job abit and the inners were sitting a little low for my liking, like this
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/2b013616.jpg
so i took them apart and now they look like this
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/0348ca20.jpg

Thought its about time i did abit of a update on the car since its been back on the road for a few weeks now.
well first port of call was getting the arches rolled from Paul at archenemy
he did a great job and actually pulled the arches so they are now a good bit wider than the standard set-up
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/7a091127.jpg
about an hour after Paul was finished i headed in for a detail from the big man, he did a amazing job and there is a nice little write up here
http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=35470
From there i went to DC11. had a great time and scooped 2nd place in the show and shine

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/9f7ec8f4.jpg
The car seemed to get alot of attention and got alot of nice comments from people about it and the stance
When i got back from DC i got the rear bumper into the bodyshop for a respray, i then get ready for bimmerflex

scooped another trophy there

.....................
So was 6 months off the road and a huge overhaul worth it????
10000000%!!!!!!
The work gone in under the car has really paid off, it drives like new, my car has always been a tight number but it feels better than new now.
The brakes are unbelieable, the stopping power is amazing and very progressive.
The new exhaust is pure sex! the sound is like nothing else out there, i know there are plenty of titanium boxes out there, but none sound like this, on the motorway at around 80 its very very quiet, give it some rev's and it is like a banshy.
The Wheels?? well i was getting very nervous about stepping down to 18's, but i have to say its the best move i've made, its transformed the car!! properly transformed the car, not just looks, but the drive. is sooo much better, the ride is very very plush and bumps and holes are ironed out very nicely, the handling is yet another improvment, it turns in better and sticks to the road like glue.
The vreds have been a great change aswell, i would deffo use them again,
Thanks for reading

Well its been a long wait for this but it now in the car and running.
no this is a Impartial review of the airbox, I'm not the type to blow smoke up people arse to make them feel good
firstly i would like to tell you about the quality of the airbox its self.
Well where do i start, its a dry dry carbon box, everything on the box apart from the fasteners are carbon, trumpets, supports etc the lot!!
it has to be some of the best composite work i have ever seen. (i have dealt with alot of performance parts like this from my days building race bikes)
the trumpets are flawless and structural work is so slick and detailed, my favorite parts of the box are actually hidden when fitted.
a few pictures to show you the quality of the work
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020627.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020629.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020626.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020628.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020630.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020631.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020632.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020633.jpg
ITG filter fitted
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020634.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/P1020635.jpg
I choose to fit the box myself, i would have been more than happy for evolve to fit the box but i like working on my own car, gives me the build rather than bought feeling.
so i tackled the job one evening, stripped out the old
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5706.jpg
and in with the new
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5707.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5708.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5711.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/IMG_5714.jpg
now for those that don't know this airbox just like the OEM CSL running Maf-less. and also uses a different ECU software called Alpha-N, obviously because i choose to fit the box myself i would have to drive the car to evolve with the car still running its Original software and no Maf connected, so i had a engine light on and it was a little lumpy at low revs, but apart from that the car ran really well.
Time came to go visit Imran and Rizwan in Luton, i left a little bit of work for Rizwan to do, he wired up the new temp sensor to the Maf connection
And some proof that other people do work on my car
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/ea47f19f.jpg
time to back her on to the rollers
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/4b42470f.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/28864a9a.jpg
now i was not really bothered about dyno figures, mainly because i know they are not really relevant due to the factors that can change the readings each time the car is run, but i was more interested in the change, now we could really do a base run of the car because the base run we did, i already had the airbox on rather than the oem set-up.
Another thing that effected the running of my car was the ride height and front splitter, basically when the car is running it need to ramp forward onto the dyno reading roller to read the power, this is done by placing a wheel choke in front of the front wheels, allowing the car to drive forward and the rear wheels to get up on top of the roller, due to the ride height and splitter it restricted the distance of the wheel choke to wheel, basically didn't allow the car to come forward enough, but it did come forward enough to get a good judge of what it is doing.
the base run with the engine light on, no Maf and a foreign airbox pulled a 319hp, which to be honest, I was really happy with (its a 10 years old car now)
the alpha N was loaded on to the ecu along with Evolve map to go with it and Imran had another crack of the whip pulling her to 343hp after a couple of runs (another thing to remember is it takes time for the ecu to adapt to the mapping changes, so by the time you get home it may be pull abit more power)
I was well chuffed with the figures, some people might think that the car should make that as standard, well they don't lol, and that was also with out being able to get the car correctly up on the dyno roller. So all in all well pleased
here is abit of dyno action for you, its a nice mix of airbox and dixis:thumbsup: (click the image to view the vid)
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/th_3d5bab26.jpg (http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/?action=view¤t=3d5bab26.mp4)
time for the test drive, i jumped in the drives seat and Imran took shotgun.
First impression.... very very smooth, the power curve was silky smooth and pulled steady through the revs, tbh the extra power didn't really jump out at me but it still felt uber strong but the smoothness of the delivery was sooo crisp. I was a very happy camper indeed.
I heading home back to the smoke and had a good play on the motorway, i mean half a tank in 40 miles lol
by the time i got home it was different animal to the car that i test drove 45 minutes before hand, I'm guessing the ecu adaptions were still taking place, it feel like a real beasty now lol
it picks up a good thousand rpm earlier than it used to and the pull its continuously strong and doesn't fizzle away and the top end of the range, when i hit up that private road on my route home i got to play with some of the higher speeds and it just kept pulling and pulling.
The alpha N software to me has sooo much more feel to the driving experience, the electronic feel from throttle has gone as well as the lag that comes with it. It feels like a good old cable throttle again, that reacts in a instant when you touch the throttle.
now the airbox, what a bit of kit, at low speed with the window down you can here the whistle of the intake sucking the air in, its crazy, give it a boot full of throttle and the noise makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, the OEM CSL box sound pretty subtle compared to this lol.
Paired up with my titanium Dixis the noise from the car is something else.
The other thing that is great about the box, if you are just cruising around town driving calmly it stays nice and quiet and the cabin still remains a calm place to be.
Motorway 70-80mph cruising is the same as it was volume wise, so no crazy motorway headache, but then all it takes is a stamp on the throttle and the beast comes alive.
Basically to sum up the airbox and my whole experience with Evolve is AMAZING!!!
Imran, Sal and Rizwan you are a credit to our forum and the whole BMW community, you guys really do go the extra mile with your customers while keeping the whole experience very personal and light hearted while still retaining the professional part of it.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbs up:
And sorry for the essay

Damper cleaned and threads treated with some Gt85, nylon spring perch has been cleaned and treated with gt85 aswell, gives it a coat of protection and keeps them moving

well got the car up and running again, after looking for a airleak that pulled up nothing, so looking into it deeper and a faulty TPS was the culprit. it was the tps on the throttle actuator, car is still running a little funny cos the throttle values need reseting which david is gonna do for me.
Huge thank you to Phil at CPC for helping me out over the phone. thanks mate
Also got the Kw's fitted soooo happy with them, they are pure quality. I'm in no way shunning the D2 set-up, it is awesome and would happily of kept them and i do not a have a single bad word to say about them, just these came up and they are top draw if you know what i mean

Well I finally found abit of time to get down to my firms plant yard and use the air tool and parts wash bins to strip and clean up the read AP's before I drop then to the painter
I popped the pistons out , stripped the springs, bleeds, rattle clips and rollers. Put the whole in a parts wash bin for a chemical clean
I left the seals in for now, and I'll remove them when they are painted and replace with new seals and bleed valves

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c0530a81.jpg
They have now been dropped to my painter
I have also got a set of turner front top mounts, so i will get them cleaned up and on the V3's asap
......................
Just picked up the brakes from the painters. Need to hand paint the logo and wait for my new seals as bleeds to arrive. I also have a set of AP slotted discs coming my way in a few weeks to match the fronts
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c37ad180.jpg

Thanks guys. This week I should start work on it again.
Gonna get the turner top mounts on and dialed in, fit my rear Ap's (still waiting on my slotted AP discs to match the front though)
Hopefully pic up my genuine csl deck and get that on to.
The direction I've always wanted to go with this car is genuine parts. Bruno knows how bad I am for this, even as far as turning down free parts from various vendors just because I wanted OEM+
I will also be pulling out the boot install, it's to big and heavy for my liking. I will be fitting some small jl 8inch stealth box's
Anyway I will make a point to keep this updated, and laidback I will be in touch for some mfest roundels very soon, aswell as windscreen decals
Oh and happy new year everyone.

^^ wow thank you very much. That's quite a complement. Thank you.
Ment to get some work down on the car today but we have had some bad storms today so I finished the rear AP's off. Gave them a final coat on the logo's last night and then spent the afternoon cleaning up the excess.

Right so I've got a few more days off work so wanted to make a start on the winter work.
First off is a good clean, it soo much nicer working on a clean car.
So this is how I cleaned the car
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/ab1bbabb.jpg
Did the all 4 arches, aswell as bodywork. Didn't go to mad with it. Just wanted the areas that I'll be working in dirt free.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/00e4f04c.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/410db5df.jpg
I really want to get the rear Ap's mounted but I'm waiting on the rear AP Discs, so it's pointless doing the same job twice when the car it's being driven.
I did fit the waylen gear knob. I had spare oem gear knob and gaiter saying around so I hacked that up for a gaiter.
I actually mounted the gaiter on the rogue shifter. I prefer the look of it mounted here as it shows off The rogue shifter which is finished the same as the gear knob.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/15a3d422.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/7a80c7cd.jpg
Had a short drive down the road and it feels awesome to drive with. You can really feel the extra weight when using it, coupled with the double weighted SSK it is a seriously fast and smooth shift.
I've secured a brand new clutch and flywheel to, just a few more parts to get then I'll be booking it in for the work.
Now tucked away on its new trickle charger and brand new outdoor cover which Katie found at a boot sale for £5. I think they are £180ish from BMW lol

They said they have an E46 and are around the East London Home counties and one did say he's on m3cutters - I've advised them to get in touch with you for getting their angel eyes fitted up as seems they were unsure of how to do it - no idea on who they are though but I instantly thought to point them your way!

It's a film Chris. When you first lay it on it looks a little cloudy. But it's is a pourous film so after a few warm days all the air bubbles go and the cloudiness goes. I'll show you when I apply the subtle tint laminX I've ordered.

Ok picked up the laminX this morning. I went for subtle tint again. Thought I'd show you how I do it.
Lay out your laminX to check to have ordered enough lol
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/fe8d4638.jpg
I cut my sheet in half, flipped it over and found the best way to lay the film
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/0c0d2b45.jpg
Once I've found the best way to wrap the light I score the backing paper at a corner. This will then leave a impression on the film so you know where to start
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/7cbe9eaf.jpg
I then peel back just past that marking
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/465022d1.jpg
Start laying the light gently on that mark
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c727f61c.jpg
Flip in over and run you finger up and down pushing the air out
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/c4da5dad.jpg
Take your other halfs hair dryer and heat the film up abit at a time. This isn't essential but makes the film easier to work with
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/19bb71d6.jpg
Pull back abit more paper and work you way along push the air out.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/f60f2fcc.jpg
Keep repeating this process
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/f17a6bd9.jpg
Till you cover the whole unit
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/bf26485a.jpg
I then make some cuts at any sharp corners, like this
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/30830a82.jpg
I then break the hair dryer out again and heat edges that are left and pull then tight over the edge of the light. Info this because I want to trim behind the light so you have no edges when fitted
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/85dabcbc.jpg
I then start trimming up.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/70c7b648.jpg
You Should end up with a clean cut
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/663419d5.jpg
Run the finger round with abit of heat just to close up and lifted parts
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/22e16192.jpg
results. A pretty much bubble free finish
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/b52f2a2a.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/9d430b1b.jpg
Don't worry if you do get any bubbles. I get this small grouping. The material Has pours. So once it's been on the car for a few weeks the air will go. Just give the bubbles a small push every now and again and it will go. Don't bother using a pin or anything on then. Just leave them. Also when it's been on a few weeks give them a coat of wax and the come up like paintwork

Braking power feels very solid and balanced now.
Yesterday I then headed down to Swindon to meet up with Dan to do all the gearbox work. Massive thanks mate. With both of us working on the car we turned it around pretty quick. It Now drives like a different car. The release bearing we removed was well shagged.
We also changed the CPV o-ring for a high grade option that I bought from the states. This is alot easier with the gear box off

I also had a issue with my rear lights. They basically where not working at all. Dan looked at the coding will I was fishing around in the boot. I then realised I had the wrong leads on each side. Knob head!!!!
Thanks for looking

Yet another update.
Well I ended up with these bad boys. Big thanks to shimmy for these.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/56cbcdfe.jpg
I then had to sort some mounting plates. The plan was to borrow some VAC Motorsport floor mounts from Baris Xkaliber and let Ian loose on them and make me sone copies.
So yesterday I went round to see baris and remove his blistein coilovers and fit some KW V3's for him. While I did that he removed one of his VAC mounts. I finished up and he then remembered thy he had the original recaro mounts in the box from his seats hardware.
He gave them to me to try out. With his side mount and polo position set-up they were abit high for him.
I tried them this morning and they are spot on for me. Lower than oem which just how I wanted it. I think the SPG seats must sit slightly lower and my side mounts must also be lower by design. Baris has very kindly donated these to the build. Thank you soo much mate.
So how do they look???!

They are perfect for me. Perfect hight, perfect fit. Anyone who has sat in my car knows I sit on the floor and very upright. I run no lumber support on the oem cos they give me a really sore back. I can see myself being able to rack up some proper miles with these and stop tr back pains oem gave me.

few updates in one here
I had to dropped the car off to the painters, gave him a list of bits i wanted done but also gave him abit of a free rein, and told him to do anything he thinks needs doing. He has a very good eye, so i'm really looking forward to what he does.
Problem i had was he lives in the arse end of nowhere and has the steepest drive known to man so i had to raise the car up for him. Trust me this pained me sooo much to do it lol
Ask KeithS and Bruno lol

........................................
well i got the car back from the painters yesterday. He has done a great job with the paint and rust repair
Thanks to my mate bruno for taking me down to collect the car.
We them headed down with Bruno and Mike to see Tom at Autoworx for so very very light tints. i can't recommend Tom enough his work is sooo slick!!!! He is also a cutter to.

next was a convoy back to play about with the cars. I quickly ignored the 2 m5's and got to work on getting the car back to a respectable ride height.
While i was at it i replaced all the pads with the new NTX bluestuff pads.

tints look a lot darker in these pics than the actually are. They are the lightest possible tint and the interior is still very very visible
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/537740c4.jpg
Overall i'm really happy with the paint, but it needs some work from Bruno to get it back to how i like it, its abit dull in places where it has been mopped.
The new pads are working very well pretty much straight away. well chuffed
Paul46rider
06-07-2012, 11:11 AM
the paint actually looks a little flat where they have mopped it, so my mate Bruno will be getting the shine back this week for me
well a few months back on got hold of a fire damaged Genuine CSL centre console. I originally though about getting the carbon repaired, i dwelled on it for a while and left it in a cupboard for a while.
I then had a idea and got it down to the painters with a trim to colour match from.
Basically had it finished in piano black, Bruno then gave it a few coats of Swissvax Shield.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/76af86ee.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/9454d3d0.jpg
A few parts had to be ordered to fit the unit, so keith got on the case for me and got the parts in, basically a new mounting frame and a few switch surrounds and a new gator.
before i fitted it i had to play about with the frame on my passenger seat as it wasn't locking in to well, quick bit of bending here and there and it was sorted.
So out came the armrest and oem console and in with the new
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/9142e6a4.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/eef9b953.jpg
I love it, the armrest is redundant once the seats are fitted as its too high. I bought a door handle blanking plate and had the painted and fitted that in the cal console for now. I will at some point make my own wiring loom up and fit the mirror switch on the console and use the blank on the door handle. also the handbrake gator and handle will be redone when the car is trimmed
Thats it for now, bruno is attacking the paint for me this week with his toys
....................................
Well I left the car with my best mate after paint. I'll just copy and paste his post
As most f you know, Paul recently had his whole front end painted and various other bits of paintwork done.
His painter did an amazing job but like most painters with prehistoric rotary techniques, left a serious amount of buffer trail, holograms etc etc.
Paul conveniently asked me to "store" his car to which I happily agreed. He then asked if I could "have a go" at the paint.
:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Fresh paint does not generally react well to being machined but I couldn't let my little brother down.
Excuse the iPhone pics

A few updates to the journal
i received a set of Eibach Anti Roll bars from Kevm3. He had them painted black, i'm not sure but i may return them back to red before fitting them
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/80e557be.jpg
since fitting my Recaro SPG seats i have been having problems with my airbag light, i fitted a occupancy sensor bypass unit that i bought from ebay, i went for the most expensive one i could find, but it still didn't work, So i though to myself "i can't me arsed with half measures"
So i just bought a new occupancy sensor mat to be fitting in to the passenger seat
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/7b2b8df3.jpg
Next up is abit more maintenance, i went and picked up some oil from euro's while they have their super cheap deal on. This gives me a opportunity to changed my failed level sensor, so i got one ordered
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/3f7426e2.jpg.
still more lol, first part of the retrim got on its way, its only the small bits I'm getting done at the moment, i sent away my gaiters to Jack at Royal steering wheels, they are been finished in Alacantra with yellow cross stitching.
I have also asked him to do me a new steering wheel, i took the idea from this wheel

.............................................
on to yesterday
didn't get as much as wanted to get done to be honest. Was a day off working on cars and found it hard to motivate myself to get dirty again lol
day started off with going and collecting MichaelW and taking the car to his mates place for a proper honest MOT. Passed anyway, then let Michael take the car for a spin.
thanks again mate
I then headed back over to Bruno's and started to get a few bits done, took mark M3 for a quick spin before taking the old box out, lots of fun shall we say lol
at this point i was till trying to motivate myself to do something lol
Few star jumps later and i got cracking lol The Gen 1 box came out with in minutes (about 5) lol
Then swapped over the gabbing and clamps etc to the new box. Before putting the Gen 2 box in i decided i would ditch the fan guard to give a cleaner look to the bay, this was followed by the new box going in which i have to say fits perfect!!!! I also fitted the powder coated black oil filter cap i had done and then added a strut bolt cap on top to hide the bolt.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/da54de27.jpg
absolutely love it!!! the noise is still EPIC lol
KeithS then dropped my latest order of parts over for me, I ordered all new bolts and clamp for the eibach anti roll bars aswell as new rear drop links.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/paul46rider/ce10f365.jpg
didn't really get any pics on the bars going on cos time was getting on and the rain was intermittent, but for comparison you can see the oem and eibach front next to each other

More and more Win from you Paul!
Amazing attention to detail once more and even when it comes to the 'boring' aspects of maintainence too!
I can't wait for the future mods you have yet to do ! .. ;)
Cheers, Dennis!

Cheers guys the pedals are from
Bmwpedal.com. The do custom engraving hence the 46 on the dead pedal.
They have also made me a gas pedal extender to aid heel and toe driving.
Just got sent these images of the new wheel
