Was considering selling both the MINI and the SUV and buying a used B7, but I really don't have any experience with them. I will continue to research. You will definitely get a ride Am3n if I get one.
But it's actually quite nice to have the MINI and the SUV. Except when insurance and registration rolls around.

Yeah, I would be sad if I sold the MINI. Nothing is going to offer that much fun for the money. So, extremely unlikely I would make a change.

yup driven it a few times when I used to work at BMW of Riverside =)...
it's definitely a hot number...and will be a collector's item due to the limited 400 unit production of the car...performance of the alpina made me feel like i was in a E60 M5 on the straightaways...but handling was surprisingly as good as an E60...=)
to sell two cars that will depreciate for one Alpina that will appreciate after the 5th year, gets my vote!

I think I am going to stay where I am at, the MINI is too much fun to give up just yet...
I do appreciate all the input though!

It is a missile, although not much "fun" to drive. Looks very executive too. They have been murdered by depreciation and still have a little room to drop IMHO, but right now is still a good time to buy.

So straightliner muscle luxury car, and not much fun on a twisty road or racetrack, huh?
I'm still seeing them for mid 60's and low 70's, which seems pricey relative to the 40's of a nice standard 7 series.
What prices are you seeing them at Amir?

Yeah, that's about right. The brakes won't stand up to track-day abuse. It's ok on a twisty road, but there's no masking the weight and the seats are luxury-minded, etc. Still, definitely a more dynamic driving experience than an S63 or S8, and WAY more exclusive.
Black/black seems to be holding value the best. There was a beige/beige one I saw sell for under 60K with I think 8K miles on it. That was a DEAL though.
I had one here that was matte black wrapped and it looked straight gangster. Definitely a car you can make an entrance in.

i think the B7 is a awesome car to drive .. even for a daily .. enough room for you and the family, bro's or to pack it with girls to hit the clubs ...
plenty of power ..
has that "custom" feelin on the inside from the alcantara (suede) headliner and alpina badges ...
handling is tighter than normal e65 ...
only thing that bugs me ( i know a lot of you are gonna hate on me for this) is the damn wheels .. not a fan of alpina wheels IM SORRY =/

The President of Alpina is in town today, and visiting one of the local OC dealerships this afternoon. Talk is about the new B7, among other things.

I am new to these boards and have had an '07 Alpina B7 since new... now with 15K miles on it. I drive it bascially every day (that and a Range Rover - full size and Supercharged) and let me tell you, the B7 KICKS BUTT!
Handling is very tight (I live right off Mulholland) and it is scary fast. It feels nothing like a big Beemer in the corners, but cruises like one on the highway. Bottom line: I LOVE MINE AND AM KEEPING IT (unless I get the new '11 Bi-Turbo)!!!

BTW... I have a wife and 2 kids, so this car is perfect for me as a daily driver. It replaced my '01 740ia Sport, which was the very last Black '01 7-Sport brought into the USA... I ordered it and got it brand new right off the truck on the day it arrived in August of 2001. BMW FACTOID: all 7-series cars produced in the last 10 days or so of the 2001 production run had only steel sunroofs (no glass), no UV film on the front windshields and one other strange difference that I can't remember (memory goes at 40, I guess). Mine had all of these oddities and I loved it! Sold it in August of 2007 with 56K miles on it after my B7 arrived (after 11 months on order) for twenty-something grand... which was a steal as it was ABSOLUTELY PRISTINE!!!

I think the 2011 B7 is calling your name.
I may have a buyer for your current B7. :D
