A week a go I found oil on the floor of our garage and I started to do a research. I found how common CPVs leak so I went to the local BMW dealer and got one. I removed the plastic cover where most of the oil are, then the metal (stainless?) subframe cover where it had tiny oil. I checked the CPV and there's an obvious streak of leak but it seems dry but changed it anyways. I wiped every oil I encountered and assembled everything back hoping leak will stop.
Luckily enough few days later, same oil on the floor. Dealer I bought it at told me that they had replaced the "oil filter housing gasket" and "oil pressure switch." Can you guys help me narrow it down? It's coming from the front side of the engine so I doubt it's the rear main seal.
Checked the Timing Chain Tensioner and I doubt it's coming from there because it's pretty dry and clean and I don't see any oil streak coming from there.
It's definitely coming from the passenger side. Here are some pictures, could it be coming from this black canister (I don't know what it's called)? Or it could be coming from a higher place on top of the block (head gasket? but it should be oil or I would see white smoke or over heat right?). I started the car and believe saw some oil coming from below the header where it meets with the head.
