Hi Chris. Sorry I havent posted in a while. Too busy with work and family stuff.
Anyway, come on up to Seatlle and I will help you guys install your DICE or Intravee.
But since that is not a possibility, they are both easy to install.
Plug and play pretty much.
I just posted some info here (http://www.mfestforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=27714#post27714). Hope that helps.

+1. Never done the Intravee, but the DICE HD (w/stealth antenna) on a Nav-equipped car is easy. I didn't document it when I did mine, but I remember it was simple and straight forward.
I believe the HD is a few more steps then the regular dice because of the HD antenna, but pretty much the same thing as far as install. I ran the iPod cable into the cab, and into the center console too.
It was my first time. I read the instructions beforehand and it took about 45 mins tops.

bro, I can tell you right now the Intravee diy is super easy, literally plug and play. You run the whole controls off your Navi, so you leave your ipod and all the components in the trunk. Just use the cable that ran the cd changer and plug that into the intravee module. The only thing is your also going to have to purchase the Alpine KCA-420i unit and plug that into the intravee unit. Super easy, where you mount them is up to you, I just left it behind the carpet in the space where the cd changer used to be and fed the cable through a hole and out to the trunk so I can plug/unplug my ipod there.
The only difference with the DICE is that you don't have to buy a separate module and you get a LONG cable to run through your cab and set up wherever you want the ipod to dock. HOWEVER. ask anyone that has DICE and theyll tell you its absolutely unreliable, pos in my opinion!!!
Found a vid of the Intravee II install on E39 M5

I was thinking about adding the spec dock too Chris. Check this link out, I think this would make the Intravee II spec dock "able"

wiring should be exactly the same and speck dock should work.
have you installed the intravee chris? its really easy and doesnt take but 10 minutes max. do you know if your car is analog or digital? do a search on m5board and you will have tons of results with everything imaginable.
i have the intravee in my car, pretty cool little critter.

DSP can be both analog and digital. if your does not have the cable style plug going into the cd changer then you dont have the digital dsp. you will see what im talking about when you look at your cd changer. you should have 2 plugs coming from it, 1 should be ibus and the other the sound plug. you either have the sound plug+ibus or the digital plug+ibus.
