the sean sherk/tyson griff fight was dead on badasz. those dudes were throwing hooks/uppercuts/jabs, just plain swinging like a real street fight, my favorite fight, the main event with anderson silva was dissapointing, it was pretty much silva dancing around the ring toying with cote (which was expected), silva pretty much had his way with cote like a sparring partner, the fight ended up with cote tearing his acl (i think) at the beginning of the 3rd and then just falling down, self knockout FTL

-alves and gsp would be a really good fight, the brazilian keeps on getting better and better with each fight, i think he has more knockout power then gsp, not to sell gsp short on the punches or anything.

-i'm just hoping that wanderlei drops down to 185. if this happens they will probably have a wanderlei/henderson rematch,i would love to see wanderlei/spider silva. wanderlei (being my favorite fighter) did get ko'd pretty bad, but anyone would have with that punch being placed on him as perfectly on the button as rampage did. rampage trains hard and he has earned his dews...i hope he's back in a title shot shortly.

-i really hope that my other chute boxe fighter shogun brings his A game. i'm a really huge fan was was very dissapointed at his last fight with forrest. he was outta shape, slow, and not the shogun that has beaten some of the greatest fighters in the world. i'm crossing my fingers to having him in the championship contendership if he wins his next couple fights.

-alistar overeem, dude has gotten huge, i would love for him to sign with the UFC and take on congo as his first apponent. WAR ALISTAR.

-machida...well, i hope he doesnt run like he did when he fought tito, and no i dont think he deserves a title shot. i hope he gets beat down in his next fight.

i thoguht GSP looked big for 170 but daaayam Alves is a MONSTER @ 170! I totally agree with you, he gets better with each and every opponent they put in front of him. he's still young & hungry so i think a title shot is in his cards, probably THIS YEAR.

-i'm just hoping that wanderlei drops down to 185. if this happens they will probably have a wanderlei/henderson rematch,i would love to see wanderlei/spider silva. wanderlei (being my favorite fighter) did get ko'd pretty bad, but anyone would have with that punch being placed on him as perfectly on the button as rampage did. rampage trains hard and he has earned his dews...i hope he's back in a title shot shortly.

if Wanderlei could drop down to 185 i think he would be much better. Just like with Penn from 170 to 155... Penn got slower & sloppier @ heavier weight. Wanderlei, IMO, got more sloppy. Not necessarily slower cause he was never "fast" to begin with. He doesn't seem as hungry as before. I give the axe murderer the most respect, the first to take out 3 or 4 Gracies? lol

Rampage will probably need one or two more impressive fights to get back into real contention for the belt.

Shogun was GREAT in Pride but when he crossed over to UFC, he probably got blown up so much by Dana White he thought he didn't need to train TOO HARD cause he definitely was out of shape & slow.

-alistar overeem, dude has gotten huge, i would love for him to sign with the UFC and take on congo as his first apponent. WAR ALISTAR.

honestly i never really thought of Congo as a big deal so i never payed attention to his fights but Alistar Overeem on the other hand! I just checked & i didn't know he went up to 230lbs? i thought he was usually at 205 back in Pride? i could be wrong though. He really didn't do too great in Pride but i always thought he was a bad ass with his high kicks :D

-machida...well, i hope he doesnt run like he did when he fought tito, and no i dont think he deserves a title shot. i hope he gets beat down in his next fight

ehhh, Ryoto Machida... his fights aren't exciting. don't get me wrong i love a good technical match but his matches are just flat out BORING!!!

i still like liddell :(

Lidell trains with my friend's boss... he hasn't been doing too good either. i think its the age setting in along with more hungry fighters.

Franklin held his own, it wasnt brutal like when he fought anderson silva. my biggest dissapointment was one of my favorite fighters of all time -shogun. against a 44 year old mark coleman, he showed the physical performance of a 40+ year old, and for being only 27, he should have been all over coleman, either shogun gets into a good training camp to work on his conditioning, or he's done. i'm a big shute boxe follower, but after seeing wanderlei get KO'd (by a good good punch), and seeing shogun's performance, things arent looking so good for the brazilians, anderson silva is holding things down though. i am a huge GSP fan and i hope he rains all over penn. :D

hahaha, i hope it wasn't as brutal as against Anderson... A.S. held him in the Thai Clinch forever & a day! :laughhard:

i still haven't seen the shogun & coleman match but when i read the play by play i was extremely disappointed...

Another bad night for Chute Boxe Academy with Vanderlei getting knocked the **** out! It's sad cause he went from The Axe Murderer aka Gracie Killer to being knocked out by guys that he has already decimated! I mean c'mon, he took out Rampage & rampage fell out of the ring haha... hopefully Chute Boxe can bounce back later in 2009 & Anderson will still be holding the title :D

St. Pierre batters Penn in knockout victory
24 minutes ago

Buzz up!12 votes PrintLAS VEGAS (AP)—Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre dominated lightweight champion B.J. Penn at UFC 94 on Saturday night, forcing a doctor to stop the fight before the fifth round in a marquee showdown between two of the sport’s top fighters.

The 27-year-old St. Pierre, who won a split decision when the two met at UFC 58 in March 2006, was leading heavily on all three scorecards when referee Herb Dean stopped the bout on the advice of ringside doctors. Penn’s corner agreed with the decision.

“Last time I fought him I won in a decision,” St. Pierre said. “This time I really wanted to take him out, and I’m glad I did.”

In the co-feature, Lyoto Machida knocked out Thiago Silva with a second left in the first round to win a matchup of undefeated light heavyweights.

There was no doubt what drew a cheering crowd to the MGM Grand Garden, though.

St. Pierre was all over Penn from the outset, pressing him against the fence for most of the first round and taking him down almost at will throughout the next three rounds.

The Canadian fighter wound up on top of Penn in the fourth round and kept dropping elbows and landing punches. Dean nearly stopped the fight as Penn kept absorbing the damage, but the Hawaiian fighter managed to make it to the end of the round.

When asked who he wants to fight next, St. Pierre replied: “I’m a world champion and a proud champion. So I want to fight the best.”

Earlier in the night, Machida floored Silva multiple times in the first round before landing a devastating shot that ended the match.

The victory places Machida near the top of the talent-laden light heavyweight division. Asked who he wanted to fight next, Machida turned to the crowd and said, “People, do I deserve a title shot?” The crowd responded with cheering approval.

In the undercard fights, Jon Jones won by unanimous decision over Stephan Bonner; Karo Parisyan earned a split decision victory over Dong Hyun Kim; and Clay Guida defeated Nate Diaz by split decision.

In the preliminary bouts, Jon Fitch won by unanimous decision over Akihiro Gono; Thiago Tavares defeated Manvel Gamburyan by unanimous decision; and John Howard beat Chris Wilson by split decision. Jake O’Brien defeated Christian Wellisch by split decision and Dan Cramer won by split decision over Matt Arroyo.

Both BJ and oscar de la hoya (which i'm a huge fan of) did NOT go out as warriors. they quit, warriors go til the end. BJ was out of his league, although he's an incredible fighter, he was out of his league going against a much bigger/quicker gsp. I think he made BLACK BELT like in 3 years (which is almost unheard of). GSP and Thiago Alves will be a much better fight than the GSPvPENN fight.

I really really hope machida gets KO'd in his next fight, i cant stand his unorthodox fighting techniques. He does karate good, and avoiding the attacker, but i'm just waiting on someone to bash his face in.

Shogun is going up against the iceman, and in few words, either he gets into good physical condition, or he's done. thats the only way i see him standing a chance, because its very hard to keep liddell on the ground.

BUT... BJ wanted to keep going. Dr. said it was not good so his brother sad better to not continue. at least that's what i got from watching it? i saw the brother make the sign to end the fight after hearing wha the Dr. had to say.

oh Bj earned his black belt in three years... he's also the first American to win the BJJ World Championships! thats amazing if you ask me!

I never thought of Machida as that great but watching this last fight... he's a very cautious fighter who sit's back & waits for retaliation or openings so he can retaliate. I guess that can be considered a good fighter, but if he actually gets hit, dead-on, then i have a feeling he'll go down.

Shogun vs Iceman? Shogun looks like rubbish when he fights (lately), lidell i just don't think has the passion and drive like he did before. I just hope it's a good knock out fight. i can't really see either of them being too "technical" during the fight :p

BJ QUIT? Unless i watched a different fight, he didn't tap out nor did he get ko'd. Both the doctor and his corner stopped it. I know that he was getting worked, but he didn't quit. Correct me if i'm wrong, but there's a huge difference right?

A true warrior who goes out on his shield in battle is a warrior. Anyone can go to war...few are true warriors. GSP and the whole vaseline drama is not what i'm referring to and hope you understand my point of view.

havent caught this thread in a while... ^the reason i think BJ did not quit as a warrior is because he didnt go down fighting as some of the other fighters, i remember like when BJ whooped Joe daddy stevenson, i remember seeing all the blood and joe's reaction at the end of the fight (crying), when i think about going out like a warrior, thats what i think about, not having your corner throw in the towel, and if you look at the fight again, BJ did not want to keep going, you could tell by his reaction, he knew he lost the fight, GSP was just a better man that day, but i defenetly get where you coming from the gents, everyone has their own opinion, which is cool, thats why these threads exist, it would be pretty boring if everyone thought alike.

onto other topics:

RAMPAGE V JARDINE- my take on that fight, IF rampage fights like this against evans, he will lose, i'm so surprised his conditioning was not up to par with what it was when he trained with juanito, i'm a huge rampage fan, i just hope he changes up a few things and gets his conditioning back.

WANDERLEI V FRANKLIN - I'm a huge chute boxe fan, i hope wandi gets back to his old axe murderer self.

sadly, i didn't catch UFC 96 but i will be watching it later this week if i have time. i know the results but they aren't very surprising except that Jackson went to the end. Maybe he just wasnt used to Jardine's weird ass way of fighting haha. he's very unorthodox don't you think? he looks like a cumsy bastard to me hahaha

anyways, as for Carwin... he won his 11 fight & is still unbeaten. he hasn't gone more than two minutes in the cage since how long ago? I wonder what his conditioning is about? does he have stamina to go 25 minutes with someone who can take a punch? we'll see, but i think he's a damned beast!!!

Brandon Vera is the shiet! that's all i have to say about that :p

Kendall Grove (808 pride!) & Matt Hamill are each coming into their careers nicely. can't wait to see their fights.

who saw the fight this past weekend? All i know is Machida took out Evans with a right hook? Well that's what people have told me.

I knew it was coming... Evans has a speedy nature to him & likes to punch. Machida will just sit-back & measure up his opponent & counter-punch... i don't know if this is how the fighet panned out but maybe someone here can tell me

The first three to three and a half minutes were very slow (but that was to be expected with those guys being counter strikers), then Rashad started coming forward and Machida dropped with a kick/jab combination. He finished with a flurry of punches to the downed Rashad.

Round two picked up a bit and then Machinda landed a hook (IIRC) that put Evans on queer street and then that was the beginning of the end for him. Great fight on Machida’s part.

Probably one of the most exciting UFC's to happen in a while.

BROCK completly destroyed MIR (badly at that)

GSP V ALVES a very respectible loss for alves, and a great title defense for GSP

**my favorite, was watching our hometown boy DAN KNOCK the stuffing outta bisping, i could watch that highlight over and over again, brutal knock out.

I told my gf, who was rooting for GSP and Bisping for this event, that i hope that Bisping would get knocked out like his countryman Ricky Hatton (via Pacquio TKO). Lo and behold, he did what i was hoping for. I can't stand Bisping. Something about him just irritates me. Dan just stalked him throughout the fight and what an amazing KO! :D

GSP is just an all-around talent. So hard to find a weakness when he's on top of his game. I hope Alves learns from this and continues to train on his weak areas. I like his potential.

Brock is setting himself up for Fedor. Dana White needs to make this happen!

The fight i enjoyed the most was Akiyama v. Belcher. I didn't know much about these two, but i thought their fight was exciting. Great to see two fighters just go at each other throughout the 3 rounds.

in due time... Dana White needs to suck it up & deliver on the amount Fedor wants. He also needs to work a deal with Fedor since he fights for other companies & doesn't want to be tied down to just UFC

if Dana were to make this happen it would give him probably the highest rating ufc becuase of the whole hype behind "who is the best", especially since randy/fedor did not go through. brock has hurt his own reputation, and has come off as being well....a poor sport.

i really think that the only way to beat brock would be to put him up against a very accurate/powerful striker, lets face it, i dont see anyone going to the ground against brock and having the upper hand and getting up unless brock permitted. mir is a huge strong dude, and he was being thrown around like a rag doll.

there's only a few fights that mma fans would really want to happen if they could (a few for example):

brock v fedor
anderson silva v gsp
henderson v gsp
anderson silva v rampage
anderson silva v lyoto

and for that fact, just having anderson silva stepping up to the 205 is solidifying his title as p4p the best.... i mean what else is next after you have wipped out (badly at that) the whole weight-class?

Fedor v Brock would be a huge fight, but there's so many obstacles to get it done that it might not even happen for awhile. In the mean time, UFC needs to keep entertained with fights fans want to see.

GSP v Silva would be great, but GSP is reluctant to move up in weight. Silva just dominated his weight class and is moving up. he might just dominate that class as well. :D

I guess we'll have to settle for whatever is scheduled for now. I'm excited to see how BJ Penn bounces back from his lost and back into his weight class. KenFlo is no joke.

i follow BJ training & eating schedule everyday! that dude is training HARD right now. I can't wait to see him up against KenFlo... i got BJ all the way! i still think he can't be touched @ 155 if he takes the fight serious. He's stopped relying on his talent like years ago. he actually trains & studies fighters now before preparing!

that's what scares me to be honest. i don't think he reaches deep down inside to get all that potential out himself, a la GSP. I love BJ PENN and i love how he used to just rely on talent for a fight and it worked (most of the time), but now, MMA has blown up to where you have to train, you have to study, you have to do everything mentally and physically to be the victor. 155 is an ok class right now with a few capable fighters that can contest for the title, but at the end of the night, BJ PENN will dominate that weight class if he has enough motivation to stay in the class.

GO PENN!

yeah he's at 166 right now & he's not too far away from the fight. He really wants to be a competitor in 170 but i don't think his body is meant to be a fast 170lb'r like GSP. GSP is solid @ 170. BJ is sluggish & not as fluid when fighting @ 170. We'll just have to see what happens in the next few weeks.

tell you this much though... BJ got pretty upset after he heard what Florian was saying. He said he'll be ready & he hopes KenFlo is ready too :D

Affliction folds promotion, will sponsor UFC
By Kevin Iole, Yahoo! Sports

After promoting two critically acclaimed but financially disastrous mixed martial arts cards, Affliction on Friday first canceled its pay-per-view card scheduled for Aug. 1 and then opted to get out of the promotional business.

Affliction released a statement Friday evening in which it announced “a collaboration with the UFC.” It confirmed that it will cease operations as a fight promoter and that its clothing division will become a UFC sponsor.

“Our brand is synonymous with the ‘Live Fast’ approach to life and UFC is the perfect venue for us to market our brand. We have come to an agreement with the UFC which we feel will be the best for the sport and will help the UFC continue delivering the highest caliber of fights.” said Eric Foss, co-founder of Affliction.

Affliction had a card slated for Aug. 1 with a main event of Fedor Emelianenko, the No. 2 fighter in the Yahoo! Sports mixed martial arts rankings, against former UFC champion Josh Barnett at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

But Barnett tested positive for an anabolic steroid and on Tuesday was denied a license to fight by the California State Athletic Commission.

That left Affliction scrambling to find a replacement for Emelianenko. With no viable alternatives – the best was former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, who was already down to 195 pounds for a scheduled middleweight fight – Affliction early Friday opted to scrap the show.

Later in the day, Affliction came to terms on a deal with the UFC in which it would quit promoting fight cards. The UFC is likely to absorb the contracts of all Affliction fighters except Emelianenko.

Emelianenko’s contractual status is not known, though UFC president Dana White said Friday he is trying to negotiate a deal with the Russian.

Multiple sources had indicated to Yahoo! Sports that Affliction was on the verge of a deal with Strikeforce for some sort of merger, but that fell apart in the last 24-48 hours. That’s when talks began anew between White and Affliction. They had spoken earlier in July about such a scenario, but were unable to come to a deal.

Vitor vs Emelianenko? lol WUT?! that's insane! From what i've seen, Vitor is getting worse and worse with each fight. although it has been a few years since i last watched one of his fights.

i can't help but shake my head in disgust. Fedor, if he fights... will rock Belfort IMO

i don't know if i'll be back in time from vacation to see the next UFC fights, but i hope BJ regains his mojo and beats the crap outta Kenflo. How's the fight card on this even? any good?

Main event:
BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian

Main card:
205lbs.: Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva
185lbs.: Amir Sadollah vs. Johny Hendricks
185lbs.: Kendall Grove vs. Ricardo Almeida
155lbs.: Kurt Pellegrino vs. Josh Neer

Under card:
155lbs.: Shane Nelson vs. Aaron Riley
170lbs.: John Howard vs. Tamdan McCrory
185lbs.: Alessio Sakara vs. Thales Leites <~ might redeem himself
170lbs.: Matt Riddle vs. Dan Cramer
155lbs.: George Sotiropoulos vs. Rob Emerson
170lbs.: Danillo Villefort vs. Jesse Lennox

for me... the card is pretty good. Kendall hasn't fought for about 5 months so he should be well rested & ready to go. But, with that said, i've always had faith in Pancrase & Pride fighters... Almeida is 10-3 and has experience in Pride as well as Pancrase. We'll have to see about this one.

Amir won his fight in the TUF Finale, so i'm gonna give him some credit and say he'll win. Mainly because I haven't heard of his opponent either :lolhit:

Spider vs. Griffin... no brainer as far as i'm concerned :p

Neer vs Pellegrino... With Neer's multitude of fights & Pellegrino known for getting "caught" in chokes... i'll say Neer for this one

as for the undercard... i just picked who i'd like to see win out of the guys i've heard of.

you really think so bro? a proving ground for BJ? he's got the title so i don't know if he really has to prove anything.

KenFlo on the other hand has been talking a lot garbage & this is what, his 2nd chance at a title shot? I think he has more to prove than BJ. but i could be wrong

As for what BG87 said... i truly dislike Joe Rogan. i really don't like a commentator without real fight experience. I say we get Bas Rutten up to replace Rogan! :lolhit:

has vitor been doing good in his last few MMA fights? i loved his boxing/MMA skill back before he found "the Power of the Lord." Not that there's anything wrong with the church (a whole other story) but ever since i saw him make that announcement, he just doesn't seem to have the power behind his punches.

Tito vs Coleman... all tito needs to do is train his stamina up cause we all know how coleman gasses out after a round and a half!

I was watching Alistar Overeem back in Pride & honestly he didn't impress me too much. Maybe it was those few fights i have on DVD that didn't impress. But to be fair... Igor Vovchanchyn was all over those DVDs of mine :D

meh... i never wanted him to be pound for pound. i thoguht he was good sticking it @ 155 & dominating. If they had another weight class inbetween 155 & 170... maybe 163, i think he could go for that title!

IMO, to fight @ 170, you need to be comfortably in good shape around 180 (everyday, eating as you please & working out moderately). During the GSP fight, i knew he would get taken out. Of course i hoped he would win but I just didn't see it happening.

Unless Bj can put on about 15lbs of SOLID muscle & keep his speed, then he will continue to get dominated in the 170lb class.

with this being Florian's 2nd shot at the title, he may not have another chance if BJ beats him. i do worry about the area i highlighted... if for some reason BJ get's caught up then it could all be downhill from there. We all know BJ is skilled and gifted (hence the name, the Prodigy) and his track record of being the first American to win the World BJJ championships (i think he was only a purple belt?) but i definitely agree, we need to see the intellectual fighter come out.

Hopefully Saturday will be a good night!

In my opinion, he doesn’t play by the rules when it comes to steroids and growth hormones and that stuff. Look at him. He’s the worst. He looks like that every day. That’s cheating. that's not to say that i'm content with being one way. I know the Penn/Florian fight was pretty damn exciting, but what an explosive performance from Silva. I'm sorry to say, but Griffin... That was an embarrassing loss. I was expecting way more from the powerful (and much bigger) Griffin, but I guess Silva's striking proved to be more fatal.

I'm also glad that Penn redeemed the Hawaiian fighters last night too. I thought after the 2 previous Hawaiians lost, it was foreshadowing Penn's loss as well. Oh well, forgot that Penn is a freaking awesome, and one of the smartest and classiest fighters out there.

One of the best overall UFC fights seen in a while!

silva just shut the fight down, watch out 205 division. its going to be good to watch him move up the ladder in the 205 dvision with such difinitive endings so far (with both his 205lbs ko's coming in the first round)...whats interesting is that Forest is not exactly considered the bottom of the list, so i actually see silva having maybe ....maybe one more fight at 205 before he gets a title shot, and one more fight is even a bit much seeing as it would make for a huge main event, and i would definetley pay to see a A.SILVA V MACHIDA bout, even thought these guys are like bros, and have vowed to never fight one another.

oh and BJ PENN looked really good in the florian fight...

E90///M3

my view on the two main events:

Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin

What a joke! Forrest came out threw a few punches; got hit by a right jab (while silva was falling backwards); falls to the ground & passes out. He then gets up, runs out of the arena and celebrates the free money he just got for taking a shot to the face.

I've seen Griffin get hit with MUCH HARDER punches and he didn't go down too easily. That was just an embarassing loss for Griffin. Wow, i never thought it would go down THAT QUICKLY.

BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian

WOW! That was a great match! How nice to know KenFlo kept saying, "I'm going to out match & out skill BJ in every department!" From the start Ken Flo had a difficult time trying to take down BJ... He got off a few, and i mean a few, good hits. BJ got his hits in too... a little more than KenFlo! And BJ ran a Jiu Jitsu CLINIC on KenFlo in the last 3 minutes of the fight.

Kenny even looked gassed by the middle of the 2nd... or was that 3rd round? Either way... his mouth got him in trouble & he couldn't back it up this time around.

I love forrest Griffin and this was a sad fight to watch but I think there comes a point where you cant jst fight with heart (which Griffin always has) but not only have to add skill to that list. Once Griffin does that he will be insanely good. Until then he will be knocked out by soft right hand jabs.

It looked like Silva threw a simple jab but if your opponent is approaching or in a forward motion and accepts the jab it'll be devastating blow as it is twice as much impact as when you hit an opponent just standing..Griffin got really hurt or might have fractured something and he panic's and went straight outta the there...

i'll have to watch the fight again, but once silva started to land, he got forest a couple of times before that last straight jab, what was so funny was that everything of the last few 10-15 seconds of the fight seemed to be almost going in slow motion haha and i really think that Forrest ran outta there becuase he had really nothing to say, that wasnt exactly the best night for him, he got handled worse than when rashad took him out, and that was a pretty bad beatdown in itself

Silva hit him right on the button. People are saying that Forrest got hit by a weak blow, but he was hit on that side of his face the whole fight. And looking at the slo-mo, Silva hit Forrest right in the temple, and it doesn't take much pressure there to knock someone out.

actually if you look closely he was hit on the cheek bone, right eye, nose more than the temple.

everyone seems to forget i was one of the people saying silva is one of the greatest fighters if not THE greatest fighter in the UFC right now... but i still think Forrest has taken MUCH MUCH harder hits & still kicked a little ass!

another thing... if you're hit in the temple you'll most likely BLACK OUT... i've blacked out a few times & i wasn't running anywhere for at least 15 minutes. Forrest RAN right out of the right lol... he was ready to get some cheese steaks & drink a couple beers after that domination.

lol he did get up rather fast.

here's what RAMPAGE had to say about it:

Speaking via his Twitter page, “Rampage” said:

“I’m in Hollywood minding my own business & I look over.. & I see Forrest… he’s still running!”

This of course follows up on his post from Sunday where the Wolfslair MMA Academy trained star said:

“I feel so bad for Forrest. I don't even want a rematch anymore. LOSER!!”

LMAO

I think Forrest didn't want it as bad as Silva wanted the win.

I agree about Silva being one of the best MMA fighters out there.

I agree.. Rampage is funny as hell. He may be a bit of a character sometimes, but I enjoy watching his fights.

So...

How do you guys think Kimbo is going to do on Ultimate Fighter?

BG87

hopefully kimbo we'll lose. he is a mediocre striker....depends on the other guys how well they are. hopefully he doesn't make it just because the ufc is making more money with him =/

UFC AND BOXING THIS WEEKEND, i'mma going to have to go with boxing, its going to be a good fight, i'm hoping marquez wins, but if mayweather takes it, it will be a HUGE fight to see mayweather v pacman, but the marquez/pacman/morales fights are always wars.

as for UFC 103:
Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin (even though i would want to see belfort win)
Junior Dos Santos vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic(because i was a huge cro cop fan)

I'll be missing this fight due to work, but hopefully Cro-cop can get back to his old dominant ways.

I was excited for the Evans v. Jackson fight in Dec, but i guess that was scratched off the fight card because Rampage was doing a movie. Now, i think it's only Penn v. Sanchez on that fight card worth seeing.

Belfort returns to the UFC with an easy knockout of Franklin
By Steve Cofield

The Dallas crowd was grumbling as Vitor Belfort waited to pounce with his counter-punching. A veteran with excellent boxing skills wasn't about employ a rock'em, sock'em approach. The patient Belfort waited for a mistake from Rich Franklin. He got it a little over three minutes into fight. Franklin failed to put his hands up after attempting a couple of rights. Belfort, a southpaw, clipped Franklin with a left that dropped the American to his knees where "The Phenom" drilled him with another left. That put Franklin down face first on the mat. Belfort unloaded three more big shots to side of Franklin's head. Referee Yves Lavigne stopped it at 3:02 of the first round in the main event of UFC 103 giving Belfort his UFC win since UFC 46 in 2004.
"I want to thank of all the fans. I miss this vibe. I trained so hard, away from my family for three months. God gave me the gift of speed and power."
Even five minutes after the fight was stopped, Franklin was still dazed.
"I'm a little scrambled. I asked my corner what caught me and put me down?," Franklin then joked. "Let's take a look at the big screen."
After Franklin watched the first punch that hurt him, he commented that it only looked like a glancing blow.
"Once you get clipped everything kind of goes blank. At this point, you're trying unscramble things."

Cro-Cop: he was just never the same when he came to the UFC. but he had a great career.

Rampage: sad to see such a talent get away from the best MMA organization, imo.

cro-cop: wish he gained back his championship form but i don't really see the "fire in his eyes" to win... oh wells!

Rampage: He quit? what happened? i haven't been keeping up

trigg: needs retirement! even if he went down in weight he'd still have a hard time cause light heavyweight is STILL stacked! lol

Regarding Rampage, i think he chose to do Hollywood instead of UFC. not 100% but i believe that's why the fight was scratched. He's head was not fully into it, which is sad because of his talent.

what!!!!!!!!!! rampage re_____ what? i gotta get some clarification, to the batcave.

“The UFC has done a lot for me but I think I have done more for them … this movie role came about that I have been trying to get for over a year & as soon as I found out I was close to getting it, I called Dana right away & asked to push the Memphis fight back just a month or so. I told him what this movie role meant to me. I told him that I used to bond with my father watching the tv show as a kid when my parents where still married & it represents the memories I had with my father when we lived together. My dad became an alcoholic & addicted to drugs & we grew apart. But after my dad got his life back together, I was so proud of my dad & I told him I would always take care of him in the future & make him proud of me. My dad & I are still very big fans of the show & I am basically doing this for the childhood memories I had spending time in front of the tv with my dad.”

“Dana went on the internet & mocked me because of that & I still did nothing. Dana & I finally talked & we made up & then after that he went back on the internet & said some bull**** & he was talking bad about the movie when information is not even supposed to be released & talking about payments which is not even true could really hurt my future acting career, which could very well last longer than my fighting career.”

“I’m not like Randy Couture. My body has been getting so many different injuries that I wont be able to fight until my forties & neither do I want to fight that long. So I feel like my second career could be in jeopardy.. so I’m done fighting. I’ve been getting negative reviews from the dumb ass fans that don’t pay my bills or put my kids though college.”

“So I’m hanging it up. I’m gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they’ll follow me to my new career & I will gain more loyal fans along the way. & all you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass! & anybody that don’t like what I just said can come try to kick my ass! I still feel the UFC is a great organization and I felt like I was very loyal to them but they didn’t respect my loyalty but I wish the UFC the best. I did a lot of things for them. I wish no bad blood between us but I have kids & a family back in Memphis to provide for & that’s all that matters to me!”
