Here's pictures of every menu and option in the BMW Performance Steering Wheel for the E92 M3.
Application:
E92 M3 6-speed. (Fully DCT compatible.)
Options:
Provided with the alcantara center hub, but that looked cheesy and didn't have the M3 logo, so I kept the original steering wheel hub.
Installation: be ready for a surprise.
The inststallation manual calls for 1.5 hours installation, but the instructions have been changed and now require the installation of a new steering wheel angle sensor. The new installation time is about 4-4.5 hours.

Been drooling over this wheel since it was introduced in the catalog. Would love to pick one up, but other mods are first. >.<

I'm guessing you saw it on my car there...as I don't recall any others at MFest with the wheel.

No it wouldn't work on the E46 because the steering wheel hooks to the CAN bus, and your E46 doesn't have it.

Well I like it BUT...is it readable when you are turning or going around curvy roads while needing to shift OR is this purely for the straight line shifting?
What would be great is that projected on the front windshield so you can see it all the time.

Might have to buy a E92 M3 just for this wheel =)

What would you be reading -- the RPM lights? I shift by sound anyways so the lights don't do anything for me. But if I were to guess (since my car is 400 miles away), I'd say the lights and readout will not do you any good in a corner.

All new cars are equipped with the CAN-bus. The steering wheel attaches to this data bus. If the mounting is the same, then there's no reason why it wouldn't work on the 1-series as well.

Very busy. I was out of town during your NorCal BBQ. But I'm actually back down in SoCal this weekend for a family gathering, and collecting one last dyno run on my car before turning it over for the stroker motor. The car's been down here for 5 weeks already (SEMA prep, etc.), so it will be good to drive it -- even if it's just a little while -- tomorrow.

I believe it was introduced under 1 series performance products. Correct me if I'm wrong if it came out under M3 perf first. Which other models use that interface?

All 2008 and later models should use the CAN-bus...because it's my understanding that (like OBD2 before it), CAN is mandated by the US Government for MY-2008 and later.
