Myself and four other daring individtuals have entered into a development agreement with RD-Sport in Lake Forrest, California. Due to the nature of the development agreement, there are certain details we are not allowed to disclose. Here's what I can tell you:
Displacement: 4.6L
Power: 520bhp
Three, possibly four of the cars are already at RDS; mine will follow immediately after SEMA. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, but I may not be allowed to answer at this time.
Here's some pictures of the project:

The development deal includes the labor for the full engine swap and all peripheral parts (headers, exhaust, etc.). The non-development deal wouldn't include the labor for the swap, but would still include the headers and exhaust.
Once parts arrive, it's only about a 2-3 week process. Parts arrived two weeks ago, and I think the first one was started up this week. Now comes the tedious task of tuning the ECU for the motor.
BTW, sorry I missed your message last week when I was down...I would have given you a call. Next time...

From RD Sport:
RS46 S/N 003 fired up tonight. Here are some videos of the very first few minutes. After 20 minutes the engine was shut off and tomorrow morning we will check to see if the rings have seated properly. The engine ran very smooth, and there were no signs of blow by. Sine the pistons only run 2.5/100mm tolerance, the break in procedure is critical. Tomorrow morning we will fire it up again, then drain the oil, and refill with synthetic so that we can start running it on the road.
Here are some videos from the first 20 minutes. Engine has all the original accessories for the first 2-3 days, then we swap them all out. This is why you see it running with the original plenum and stock exhaust.

Being one of the RS46 customers, yesterday it was my turn to drive down to SoCal to check the progress of the project. I specifically wanted to see the custom crankshaft and body kit. I had noticed from the previous pictures showing the crankshaft, that they were mistakenly all showing the original BMW crankshaft. Since billet crankshafts have a distinctly different look than a factory forged crankshaft, I wanted to personally take the drive to see this crankshaft, and with RDS permission, take pictures and post them. Before seeing the pictures below, I can only say that the new crankshaft is a real work of art...it is as gorgeous as a piece of metal can be.
In the pictures below, I'll show pictures of the BMW crankshaft in comparison to the RS46 crankshaft. By looking at these pictures next to each other, you will clearly see the differences with the OEM crankshaft and how well built the RS46 crankshaft is. What I will not show (and didn't even photograph), are the markings stamped on the RS46 crankshaft -- as they would disclose proprietary details of the project.
Original BMW crankshaft and the markings showing the 75.2mm stroke.
Sorry that the picture is blurry.

Profile pictures of the OEM and RS46 crankshafts.
Notice the differences in the forged and machined crankshaft. The billet (machined) crankshaft is completely smooth and rounded, whereas the forged crankshaft has bumps and ridges. In all of these pictures, I'm showing the same exact section of each crankshaft -- allowing you to make a direct comparison between the two.

I know many of you are very impatient and want to see this project completed. As a customer myself, there's nothing I would like more than to see my own car completed ASAP. But having been involved in this industry myself many years ago, I have special insight into projects like this, and to explain why it takes so long. What I'm going to post below is not just my opinion, it's actually what's going on with this project -- exactly where we are, and where we are going.
We are pushing very hard to get mine done before M-Fest. The current plan is for me to take delivery by the end of March and break in the motor -- drive to Vegas for M-Fest.
-----
Three of the five motors are completed. None of the customers have picked up their cars. Two of the cars are due to be delivered and in customer hands within days. Dyno runs were done on a basic stroker motor with stock headers and stock exhaust. As one would expect, the stock headers and exhaust were very restrictive to the 15% larger displacement of the stroker motor. Next, the car was fitted with RD Sport headers and exhaust, and dyno runs were performaned again. The gains were impressive.
Before I disclose the current results, let me tell you why this type of project takes so long. There are obvious parts procurement issues: custom made crank, rods, pistons (and a few mystery parts I'm not disclosing). These all take quite a bit of time to procure. But after all of the parts are procured, then the actual development begins. The basic development of a motor like this will include testing headers, exhaust, throttle bodies, plenum, cams, and ECU tuning. Not all of these parts will make it to the production RS-46 stroker motor. Some parts may produce little or no horsepower gains, or may produce small gains but are considered cost-ineffective. But they all still need to be individually dyno tested before a final determination is made whether or not they are included in the final product.
Once a motor is assembled, the motor is broken in for 1200 miles before a dyno baseline is taken. Once the initial dyno baseline is taken, then one-by-one, the individual components are installed and dyno tested. This obviously takes an enormous amount of time - especially when you're relying with 3rd parties, such as Auto Talent, to do the installation work. Remember, Auto Talent has a business to run, and RD Sport needs to schedule the work with Auto Talent, just like any other customer. So these things take time.
Currently, the motor dynos approximately 509 hp at the crank. The crank figures are approximates, based on the known losses due to this specific type of chassis dyno on a stock E92 motor. Even though these results are impressive, there is still a lot more work to be done. This horsepower figure was achieved without any ECU tuning, throttle bodies, cams, or plenum changes. A larger set of headers will be tested next, followed by larger throttle bodies, plenum, and ECU tuning. Although technically, crude ECU tuning is being done at each phase of development, the final ECU tuning is not considered complete until all of the testing is complete.
Hopefully, everybody now has a much better idea about this project, why it takes so long, and the type of potential it promises.
Finally, here's one last teaser for you. RD Sport is trying to arrange an official RS-46 public debut at Willow Springs race track in a few weeks. Anybody in California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, or close enough to come out would be welcome to come, and see the RS-46 in person...and watch it perform on the track.

Current plans: Motor goes back in on Saturday/Sunday. The car goes into the body shop for the RD Sport body kit. Pick up the car on Thursday. Drive to M-Fest on Friday.
Since the paint will still be fresh and no clear bra on the new body kit, I might trailer the car most of the way to/from Las Vegas.

It will get a proper break-in. 1200 miles is the break-in for this motor.

Here's pictures of my motor being put back together. The motor should be in the car and running in three days from now. I will be breaking in the motor on the drive to M-Fest.
These are the first pictures of the billet crank installed in the block. All previous pictures showed the factory crank being used for mock-up.
Did anybody notice the S65 has a split crankcase? I never knew this until I saw my motor going back together.
Enjoy.

Here's the latest pictures of the RD Sport stroker motor build. Enjoy.
Each connecting rod and piston is pre-weighed and numbered. The crankshaft is pre-balanced when it it manufactured.

You must call RD Sport to get prices. However, I would not call if you're just curious...I would only call if you're serious.

Notice the starter motor is mounted between the Vee. Good luck changing it when your starter goes out; transmission must be pulled to change the starter motor.

My beast is done. Even though I'm the fourth RD Sport motor build, I'm actually the first customer to take delivery of their car (other customers are still making other changes to their cars).
After the car was put back together, I drove it 300 miles to Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm under strick instructions during break-in not to exceed 5000 RPMs, nor drive at full throttle.
My first driving impresions are very impressive. The torque increase is absolutely intense. Later today I'll start a new thread, post more pictures and video showing the motor starting for the first time, and on the road to Las Vegas. I'll even tell what happened when a fellow M-Fest member in a supercharged E46 M3 came up behind me and decided he wanted to race. He probably thought he was picking on a stock E92. I hope the poor guy didn't get his ego bent when he found himself losing ground to the E92.
