Basically my story. Always in love with the car. Always wanted one regardless of how old it is.
In general I have always loved the E39 which made me get my first one, 01 540. After about a year of having that car and searching for an M5 I finally found the Alpine White Beast and had to have it.

Seeing the movie Ronin, and then following the development and heritage of the M5. I owned an e36 M3 Sedan at the time, sold it to my friend, and found a mint '01 used Carbon Black Metallic M5. The M5 was in a way, the first "dream car" that I owned.
e46 M3 wasn't available in a sedan, and I always had a thing for BMW sedans. Ultimate combination of performance, luxury, and style with an overall balance unmatched.

I ordered mine in the fall of 1999. It was a Christmas present to myself, for a job well done (i.e., work-related). When it came in (early Dec 1999) I was out of country for a month - everyone was wondering who bought this great car and just left it sitting in the showroom for a long time.

Honestly, it was Madonna. :D Well I guess Guy Ritchie and that BMW short film he made with the M5. I had a 97 540i (Dinan S) and when that video came out, I knew I had to have the M5. So I met some crazy guys in Vegas once, and that sealed the deal, I had to have one. :D

My dream car was originally a 2001 M3, Laguna Seca Blue. When i realized my income (think 18 year old cook at a bar type salary), would not allow for one, I started looking for project cars. I basically stumbled upon a salvage 2000 M5 with 114K miles, slight water damage, and I picked it up for $8100. I've now got almost $13K into it total, and almost finished!

Had a 92', 2000, and 2003 5-Series. Ordered the 03' 540-6 new and totally loved it. Was all set to buy out the lease in 06' when I brought the wife's 3 into AGA for something and saw an M5 in the showroom. There's only one car on the planet (within reason) that I'd rather have had than that 540, and then I made the "mistake" of taking the car home for the night.

always been an enthusiast of the M cars (i knew that no matter what it is, i'm sure its a blast to drive). i had to have a car thats fun to drive and at the same time have a spot for my family (2 kids, wife, me). So this 2000 AW came along and i pounced on it right away. i just love how this car puts a smile on my face everytime....:)

I bought my wife a horse, so I needed something else that would suck up all of my money :nutkick: OK, really I have loved the e39 since I had my 530 (my first BMW).
The day I brought the 530 home, I got passed by an e39 M5, and I told myself, I want one of those!!:D

Bought the M5 for the wifey as a mother's day present. She got sick of refueling every three days so we bought a 528i for her as a daily driver. The car sat for months in the garage, so we decided to turn the M5 into a car show. That's when the mods started.

One horse for your wife. Four hundred horses for you.
And both people happy. Sounds like a good deal.
