well

I think that the market for performance parts for the S62 has gone down to 0% interest

even though the cars are way cheaper to buy.... non of the sponsors are helping us to go faster

yea Dinan Has all the stuff but we want other choices

is anyone feeling the same way as I do

absolutely right. I asked VF what happened with the supercharger project for the E39 and they just scrapped it because they think the market isn't large enough to cover the R&D. Also mentioned service history would be an issue. There is a way to delete the MAF system alltogether, powerchip provides a DME code that eliminates post CAT O2 sensors and at that point the only service issue would be if a CPS blows, which isn't that hard to replace.

Had to get my headers custom, seems like everything past the basics needs to be custom made to make sure you don't get raped with 80% profit margins

Agreed, but the E39 platform is now over 10 years old. Given the choice of developing a performance part for a model with a remaining "demand shelf life" of 5-7 years or one like the E39 M5, well, it's a no-brainer.

It feels like they're already scrapping the E46 M3 too....I feel like there really isn't much else they can come up with for it lol

hmmm I was told by the owner of VF that because of the fluctuation in power from one m5 to the other (around 20 hp ) the kit cannot be sold....

So why not sell a kit that is finished after all the R&D was done well????

It probably Dont Work !!!

The market for performance parts for the S62 has gone up drastically!!! :D

I've decided to lay low on the power mods as i'm happy with her right now...+1 the car has aged (but still SEXY!:D) and were on the 4th/5th ownership and not alot of people are willing to cough out X amount and with economy slow, i'm sure alot of manufacturer wants something more universal...but I always keep an open mind and who knows maybe in time tuners will come up with something:)

I think the e39 M5 will be heading the way of the classic car (those that are in good shape). From what I can tell the car is still adored by many and creative techs like working on them. Finding that creative tech is the problem most times.

At some point enough is enough and it's time to move on.. I'm thinking CTS-V . I love the E39 though.I think I'll keep her tucked away and get a new toy next year..

highly doubt it, with the decrease of prices of the e46, younger buyers are approaching these cars with thoughts of modification. The production only ended 3 years, developments are still to come... Stage 3 VF SC and RPI Section 3 right now in development...

Bleh, I still want an e39 m5... It was always one of my favorite cars and even if I have to keep her stock (engine wise) it will still be worth owning it.

I have had Bluemajik for just over a year. 2001 m5, low miles and once over by Mark at SouthBay. It runs great. I would love to do mods soon. I am a bit behind the curve but I look at the car as a collectible like my 67 Ford Fairlane was back in the day. I have an e60 (non M) and don't like driving it that much. It's so under powered and I don't think there is much you can get out of the e60 Non M either.

What else do you want? lol

People have a been developing/modding/racing E36s for a long time even up until now and all those mods transferred over to the E46s plus more. It's came to the point where for almost every part there are 3 or 4 manufacturers. (Which is always good)

I have to give it to Dinan they really did a very good job on the E39 M5, after our visit to their shop and seeing how their S/C setup works is simply amazing...

I like that thanks for posting:goldcup:http://www.dinancars.com/assets/File/E39%20M5.pdf

I think the best way for all E39 owners is to stick together and collaborate with a reputable sponsor and get stuff made the way we want it to be...I've done that in the past and till now and it served us well...

I appreciate how many products Dinan has put out for the E39, but I would still hesitate to spend as much as they ask for.

So true but their on of the few companies that really stepped up and really made good power, Powerchip to name a few...i had to swallow and opted for Dinan and Powerchip and i cant be happier...hence i respect guys with E39 M5's and mod the heck out of them as i know how much it cost:DI appreciate how many products Dinan has put out for the E39, but I would still hesitate to spend as much as they ask for.

Another reason that so many people respect you in the E39 world..you have done an amazing job on Lola. So we all try to follow :) Or at least learn.

coming from someone who has had full supersprint, Supercharger, full 4 wheel 8 piston BBK, 4 sets of wheels, every single suspension mod.

modding the e39 is overrated, ive been there and done that. for what it costs its worthless. im glad i was able to bail myself out of all those mods without taking any loss and even making money on most sales.

if you drive an e39, lower it, and put some wheels are. anything more than that imo is unnecessary.

once i finished my car it was far from impressive, the fact ESS semi lied to me about the power the blower would put out was a joke to and that broke the camels back.

take that for what its worth.

The E39 is a niche market just like any other car new or old hence we put stuff in it , modify the heck out of them and ultimately becomes our own self expression...I myself would not change anything and am very happy on how LoLa came out...is it worth it? from my experience, heck yeah!

What happened with your ESS S/C?
