Not car related, but a fun potential MFest gathering...

The Krav Maga studio I go to is having an Open House. If you don't know what Krav Maga is, click HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krav_maga). Basically it's a military martial art that has no BS or katas - only effective, simple techniques for winning a fight. It's perfect for anyone of any size, gender or fitness level. You don't need to be strong or flexible as the techniques are simple and straightforward. Guys, bring you gals! Gals, bring your guys!

It's FREE to participate, even for non-members. There will be three 1/2 hour lessons: Krav 1 intro (striking, hold breaks, etc.), Bag Class (think Muay Thai strikes, but for cardio) and Knife Defense. There will be giveaways and prizes raffled off - including free 3-month memberships!

10-18 Open House
10am-12pm
FREE!!!
710 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA

This is about as much fun as I've had on the race track, and a LOT cheaper!

If possible, I'd like to RSVP the school for the 10-18 event so they can plan the bag setup. Add you name to the list if you are interested:
1) Palantirion
2) Joy (Velocity Magazine)
3) Mrs. Palantirion
4) Palantirion's mother in law
5) Mad Dog (I'm signing you up - no choice!)
6) Btotoro, +1 (see arm twisting above)

I was also thinking that Laidback might be interested in setting up an MFest night at either their Tustin or Signal Hill locations. It would be cool to get enough of us together that we can have basically one giant private lesson! Laidback, PM me for contact info.

DoOode you are such a bully. If I do go, I might take the boss lady...she's probably going to enjoy this Kravamanga thing. Why is everything happening on the 18th!?:banghead:

is there a way we can move it to the 19th? i plan on going to the Rick & Ronnie's meet that night around 5pm. i have a feeling that my old ass will need a serious nap after a work out day like the one your talking about.

-The date is fixed by the Studio, I have no control over it. But you'll be fine, they aren't going to work newbs too hard - they want you to be happy afterwards!

Considering it's 10-12, that means (yes, you, Earl) your rolling with me and Mad Dog to the R&R thing. Does the studio have a locker? I don't wana be all sweaty for the rest of the day.

-There is a changing room and cubby holes for your stuff (no one will steal it at a Krav Studio - ROFL). The changing room also has a shower, if you want to bring a towel and stuff. There's also a bathroom/mirror, etc.

*bump*

Just a reminder for those attending: Wear comfortable shorts and a tshirt!

If you own a cup, bring it. If you have 16oz gloves, bring them too. Neither are necessary for this particular class, but both are recommended if you have them.

WHAT?? we sparing?
-Not necessarily. The gloves protect your hands/wrists during bag class. Without gloves you'll just have to punch lighter. Honestly, with such a short bag class it's not a big deal.

p.s. Where's IAN!?!?

Practicing roundhouse kicks:

Then I took the last have of the class, so I have no more pics. Same for the knife defense class, but that was way fun too.

Very nice pics, the good thing about Krav Maga is it's a short and swift but effective as it focuses on the vital organs of the body and inflicting the most pain as possible...it prep you for real life circumstances is what i really love about the discipline...

-Quite a few. A fringe benefit of a martial art that is specifically designed for smaller frames as well as large :D
