There's a great hole-in-the-wall sushi place by our house. It's called Sushiya (they have other locations in San Diego but the one in San Marcos is by far the best one). Their Salmon Shashimi is to die for, while their unique New York New York roll is a perfect blend of tempura and fish, with a bit of spice.

Batman loves the Spicy Tuna roll as well as the Monkey Balls (LOL).

Next time you kids are down here we'll have to go eat there!

Wockanos is this small Sushi spot in Pasadena. Its usually the only place open after the clubs and whatnot close. Its not half bad imo.

BTW Prince do you know of an Egyptian place in Westwood? My sis said she dropped by there yest and it was pretty good. Supposedly some prince was there as well. Everyone would stand up when he walked into the room.

"Javier's" in Irvine/Newport Beach is probably my favorite restaurant. Their food is sooo good. The Irvine location is pretty casual. Newport is a bit more upscale. Both have this very cool/relaxed ambiance quality to them.

My favorite Dish..."Enchiladas de Camaron" ..$20

A "higher-end" restaurant that is a little off the radar screen but definitely makes anyone's top-50 L.A. restaurants list is Hatfield's.

http://www.hatfieldsrestaurant.com/

Some reviews:

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&q=hatfields+los+angeles&fb=1&view=text&latlng=6988345470349818439&dtab=2&pcsi=6988345470349818439,1&sa=X&oi=local_result&resnum=1&ct=result

They have a 7 course tasting menu @ $79 that I think is cheap for the quality of the cooking. It's not your typical high-energy WeHo scene but rather a comfortable, intimate destination to enjoy some really excellent food. One of the best tasting menus in town...IMO.

Turners of New Zealand was my favorite place to eat. All organic food imported from New Zealand. The mussels were sooooooo good. The orange roughy was always great. The lamb....excellent!

Too bad they just closed their doors.

I noticed that Hatfield's just earned a Michelin star this year. They've been quite stingy in awarding stars to L.A.-area restaurants so earning a star is HUGE.
