When I drove by and saw you the cop had you out of the car. How long was his little chat? Hope you didn't get a body cavity search! :p
I called Sobi as soon as I saw you and we had a little chuckle. Anyway, those cops actually did a great disservice to everyone on the roads that day by pulling everyone over for driving the speed limit but ticketing for tint and such. This kept them from pulling over drivers that are actually a danger. The 'general' public was just flying by me. /soapbox

+1 Volvo's and Civic's gave us a pretty good flyby's on our way and back and cops never seemed to notice them and just pick out of our own line up...next year I'll just car pool or rent an Mfest bus to go to bimmerfest:rofl: j/kWhen I drove by and saw you the cop had you out of the car. Don't we have anyone that plays as an attorney during the day? Isn't there any protection against the CHP specifically targeting a group like they did? Seems like harassment to me.

We have a few here ... i'll ask them and also if you watch the video that Sobi took, it clearly shows that our cars stood out too much on the lineup on the freeway that's why probably we got the most brunt of the tickets:D

thats Eric's car that got the ticket while VF was borrowing the car... he's pretty upset seeing as how he's never been pulled over when he drives the car

Nah, just revenue... Easy, like shooting fish in a barrel. One of the downsides of caravanning... no safety in numbers in this case.

Ok, so we know the CHP/ Police will be on the lookout at BMW events, so lets get the front tow hook plate mounted for the drive, and reduce the tint on the front widows or roll them till you get there. Keep the speed in check around the event.
It seems most of the pull overs were close to the event site. So lets use a little pre-planing. Ticketing is on the rise as city's are hurting for cash and tickets are easy revenue. :D

Last year was ridiculous already, this year CHP just went overboard. One unit every couple of miles on the 101...sheesh. Fish in a barrel.

so is that how you treat your customer's cars, while they're under your possession? pretty disrespectful... i hope you're going to pay the fine associated with all the tickets...

Ticket wasnt for speeding so...whether it was VF or the owner driving it, he would've gotten pulled over anyway? Don't see how that's VFs fault unless they were booking it way over the speed limit

just out of curiosity, is there anything that bimmerfest organizers can do about this? sooner or later this hostile treatment is gonna affect enthusiast participation. by all means pull over the ones who are driving recklessly and putting their life and the public in danger but to single out cars that day for all sorts of violations/infractions - a definite overkill!!!

I didn't no it was illegal to have nitrous in the car :dunno: I got pulled 3 times so far since my nitrous install, 2 of the times i was taken out and my car was searched. one cop mentioned it in a conversation but other then that it seemed to big deal to them.

AFAIK the owner is just waiting to see what kind of rape the state is gonna try & deal him in terms of charges... he's gonna go from there...

bimmerfest people can't do anything about it. they only area they have control over is the location of the gathering. it'd be pretty unreasonable to ask them to manage the CHP/local police around the event. and lets be honest... the cops targeted the caravans because they're the loudest, flashiest, and probably most prone to more citations.
all i gotta say is thank god that i've gone back to stock rims and muffler while the state is looking for more revenue.
but hopefully VF will help take care of the fines.

We were asked by the customer to take the car to the show. The tickets are all fixable per the officer. We have offered to our customer to help in getting the citations cleared.
This is not for discussion with forum members as it is between VF and the owner of the vehicle.
This thread was simply started to show the discrimination of the local law against cars that are not stock. I personally was driving the car and did not exceed local speed laws. The car was pulled over initially for lack of front license plate just like 100+ other cars per the CHP officer that cited me.
Thanks!
