noobie question, do you guys know what is this light for and how to turn it on in the below pics?:confused:

its just a reflector right? USA standards :(

found it. it's actually a brake light too. it turns on during sharp braking.

It's that new feature to warn ppl behind that you are hard braking. It's supposed to be super bright to better aware motorists in the back. Kinda cool IMO. They started implementing them on the later model E65 7er's.

+1...my Z4 M has it too...adaptive brake lights to warn the ppl behind you when you slam on the brakes

+1 to all the posts above. However, its actually a standard button that you can push in all the european models. Its called the "rear" fog light. You can actually mod the headlight switch assembly very easily so that you can use the "rear" fog light.

I've done this and have had a few chances to get tailgaters to back off of my M's A$$. A guy on the M3post forums sells the adaptor for $20 bucks. I had him install it in Irvine.
