Here's my 1973 Omega Speedmaster Professional Manual Wind. Just had it serviced. My first and favorite mechanical watch. Probably one of the most tested watches of all time. Looked for over a year to find an example in good condition at a good price. Had it at least 7 years now.

Two of my buddies bought Speedmasters recently. I absolutely love it and will never sell it.

One of them is selling an automatic carbon fiber face racing edition speedmaster, as he just bought a Rolex GMT I, before the massive price increases.

The other has the automatic sapphire sandwich version of the Speedmaster.

I specifically wanted the mechanical wind to stay true to the heritage and also for the extra durability.

Get one Chris, you will never regret it.

I had a Rolex Datejust with the Thunderbird Turn-o-graph white gold bezel and like an idiot I sold it. Roman numerals also in white gold. And a white face. SS bracelet.

Rolex's are appreciating at a nice rate recently.

Just picked this up on a recent trip to Oahu.

It is a circa 1975 Porsche Design Orfina sports chronograph with the robust Lemania 5100 movement. I had sold a vintage Omega Speedmaster (different than the Speedmaster Moon above) with the Lemania 5100 and always regretted selling that watch / movt. So, when I saw this one in a store, and verified the condition, I knew I had to have it. A variation of this was worn by Maverick in Top Gun, as it was popular with military and police around that time.

Sweet Raff. Your beauty looks like it may have the Lemania 5100 17 rotor automatic movement, which is robust, and said to be able to withstand 7G's. I had a vintage Speedmaster with the 5100 that I sold to a good friend, and then desperately missed it, now I have a Porsche Design Chrono made by Orfina Watch Ltd., Swiss circa 1975 with the same movement, that I was lucky to find from a collector in Oahu. It was made in different variations for several air forces as well as the NATO alliance, and was the chrono that Tom Cruise wore in Top Gun.

I'm considering selling it, but I know I will hate myself later if I do. I've seen it advertised for $2295.

Yea, this one of my favorite watches in my collection and it is hard for me to wear it all the time. I want to keep it in good condition but, just a habit of picking it up and sporting it. These are very reliable watches.
There was a link I found that gave a full history on the Speedmaster series and it showed that there was a leather strap for these watches, but it is very rare and hard to find it. When I find the link I will put it up.
I am really attracted to the Planet Ocean, that maybe my next one. Will post that up if I get it.

The rugged yet refined case and build quality of the PO is superb, I would say better than my Rolex, although both are nice. I also really like the quality of the sapphire crystal on the PO, it's extremely clear. Apparently, it has anti-reflective coating on both the inside and outside. Look for the slight blu-ish tint. It's very nice to look at/through.

The PO is an impressive piece. I think you would enjoy it. A very nice movement as well, that is rumored to have extended service intervals.

Funny how you say that about the Rolex, when I wear my Rolex I feel like an old man. :D Reason why I have a Rolex, I got his and hers so my wife and I can have a matching pair. She is the one that likes the Rolex brand more than I do. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mine a Daytona, but I just get attracted to Omegas. Plus, there are so many fakes of Rolex out there make you want to wear something that people don't usually see.
Only Replica watch I have is an Alain Silverstein, they are such interesting looking watches I just wanted one since, you don't see them to often.

Very nice. I am in debates of the Orange Bezel or the Black Bezel. Some days the Orange calls out to me and some days its the Black.

The Orange is definitely cool, but might get old after a while. Black will always be in style. I was actually surprised when my friend got Black, since I thought he wanted Orange, but the Black always looks good.

Yeah, I love Omega myself as a brand. My first collectible watch I bought was a preowned 1973 Omega Speedmaster Professional, that I still have and love. Rumors are that soon Omega is going to come out with tons of different variations. I hope not. That would be sad if they oversaturate the market and dilute their brand.

Interestingly, Panerai is probably my favorite watch to wear. My wife got me one as a complete surprise as an Anniversary gift.

It's a really simple basic watch and movement, but just grows on you.
