i think it depends really on the type of driving you want to do and where you live.
if Drag Racing is your thing and it seems that's where most of the people are because talks always goes down to some short stretch of road where a Race is started and then the talk starts ... i Pwnd him to 130 etc... if this is your thing i would say go with HPF as no CF S/C will put down the Mid-Range a Turbo can (almost like running a 2 stroke).
if you like driving on twisty roads ... then i would say VF. the Vortech just puts out linear power and the cars just feels like you have a bigger engine then one that's FI.
another thing for the California Crowd is CARB Certification. this will get to be more and more important for us as each year CARB Rules will get tougher and tougher because they have a plan for 0% emissions by the year 2016.
VF is currently trying to get this done (CARB Cert.). i hope HPF will consider this move also.
i would like to see more people thinking about what type of power they want their car to produce and follow that route VS ... i have to have the most HP and be unhappy by the way their engine produces that HP. i think in the long run more people will be happier with that type of thinking. you'll be surprised to find that sometimes a lower HP car that's linear can be more fun to drive then a peaky High HP car.

This is a very good point Maddog...did you encounter any problems with your VF S/C? from stock to the S/C what really made the difference power wise and torque wise...when doing a s/c Dinan normally reinforce the subframe and what not (that is from the Dinan S/C S3 E39 M5)...with all that Power what measures did you do...

my car was put together with the intention of going SC and having no problems. so far i have 4,000+ miles on my VF Kit and i have had no problems what so ever. be it driving to Bimmer Fest (Santa Barbara) or MFest (Vegas) no issues. i can say i'm totally happy with my kit and i'm not afraid to drive it anywhere ... yes, even cross country. ehhh, who am i kidding i'll never do that ... :lolhit: but the point is i could if i wanted to.
to date i have the following mods:
VF Engineering: S54 Super Charger System (400+ RWHP)
Randy Forbes: Rear End Sub Frame Kit
Ground Control: Coil Overs
Rotora: 6 Piston Big Brake Kit
Dinan: Exhaust (Custom piping to clear the duel ear diff cover)
UUC: Lt Flywheel, M5 (Kevlar) Clutch & Pressure plate, short shifter, shear rod and shift knob.
Rims: BBS RS-GT's (F) 19x8.5 & (R) 19x10
this is just a list of the performance mods .... lol, there are much more but these are the things that make it go and stop

HPF is on a whole different level with performance and quality not to mention when you get a HPF kit you feel like your part of a family, having personal conversations with the owner of a major company such as HPF really says a lot about them...this thread should be VF or AA...then id say VF all the way! ive seen really good numbers with the VF kits and many happy costumers...any doughters of the HPF kit, well someone lend them a HPF car for ONE day and their opinion would change..taking my car thru Malibu canyon every sunday basicly and having angeles crest 10 minutes from my house the car does just fine with no lag or any feeling of lose of power like mentioned above with the pros of having a SC thru the "twisties"..of course you really dont need 630rwhp thru tight turns so of course you need to be careful to swing the rear end around in the blink of an eye using one of the lower 4 maps on HPFs tune really works out great...its good to have the option with the flick of a switch....
the other night at the walnut meet some kid comes up to me with a probly 20 year old beemer with 90hp all cocky for some reason and says to me "ill show you how useless 600hp is in the turns" it was pretty hilarious gave all my friends a good laugh up untill.. well we are still laughing at how stupid this guy was hahaha. ANYWAY the point is with the HPF kit you have the option of having 430rwhp all the way up to 630rwhp with one switch which is key for tight corners/tracks. :) :) :)
NO question about it HPF and VF are the two top FI companies for the BMW world and when VF comes out with a FI e92 M3 then everyone better watch out haha.

well, when i speak of a Centrifugal S/C vs Turbo this is leaning toward the masses (average joe) and it's true.
just because someone can drive a High HP Turbo in the Twisties (they do it all the time on the track) doesn't mean the average joe can do the same.
anyone who says a High HP Turbo car is just as easy to drive as a High HP Centrifugal S/C on a twisty road .... is in a dream world.
it's just like my two stroke (Honda MC28) keep it on the boil and it's fun to ride with no power spikes. drop below it and not so fun. it takes a lot of concentration to ride it right. ride it like a four stroke and you'll hate it. in fact most everyone that rides it (four stroke riders) hate it ... they complain that the power comes on at the most inopportune time (while leaned over in a turn) but everyone loves it on a straight line ... roll the throttle on around 3,000rpm ..... and it just pulls ok. then at 6,000 - 6,500 "BANG" the front wheel claws for the sky and it's just like someone hit you with a baseball bat! sound familiar Turbo guys?

Sounds like my 944 turbo... lol... it was decent power until 3500rpm and then BAM!!! Like the high output 2.6+ 4 banger turned into a Viper! haha
