Got my first check engine after years of ownership:(....Thanks to Peak code reader i checked the fault when i got home (as i would have loose sleep if i didn't check it right away:confused:) the car ran fine on our way home but didn't push her as not sure what code it was...
7F DT-TM module
I called Mark from Southbay autohaus and he said that I might have left the gas cap loose:p i checked it and sure enough it was a little loose but not too loose, i will reset the code and we'll see what happen...

You go to love the Peake Reader! Good to hear it's a simple, cheap fix! Hmmm, M5 and cheap in the same statement, that is rare!

I was driving thru Utah once, headed from Seattle to Las Vegas. After filling up and getting back on the highway (less than 1⁄2 mile) my M5 immediately threw a check engine light and went into limp mode. The gas cap was loose and after a tightening and a restart all was fine. Recently, I forgot to replace the gas cap and drove off with it dangling. I went about five miles before I noticed it in the passenger mirror. No check engine, no limp mode.

Funny thing is Mark (Southbay autohaus) said that i don't need to reset it as after tightening the gas cap...the check engine light will go out by itself after a couple of miles but i didn't wait as i don't want that SES light staring at me straight:D...hmmm I didn't feel like i went on limp mode when the SES light was lit, maybe coz i baby her too much:laughhard:

Ive never had a limp mode for a SES light ? For a gas cap the limp mode should not happen

Yes, it's not down on power when i got the SES but i wasn't going to push her with the light up:DIve never had a limp mode for a SES light ? For a gas cap the limp mode should not happen
+1 and i'm still using Gbogh3's peak code reader (hope he does not read this:D)...the funny part that i notice, is when you have it you don't get any SES light but when you don't have that is when you get one:rofl:

Normally CEL are not catastrophic, they're emissions related and it goes into limp mode to prevent you from over polluting. This might've happened to me without me knowing. I've had a phantom CEL that appeared and dissapeared. Never checked the code tho..
