Hey people, I thought this was a forum for car freaks to chat, meet, share ideas, compair and enjoy the car scean.
Lately the signatures are adds. And nearly every new thread is sponsor driven, letting us know how great the stuff they sell is, completely unbiased of course. We appreciate the sponsors but i hate to see the forum become like the magazines, mostly adds with sponsor modified cars in all the write-ups.
What are your thoughts?

Maybe there's just a lot of love for sponsors?
No one has really complained about it..and these sponsors help keep this forum running, so I don't really mind it.
There's a section dedicated for vendors for announcements, and a lot of the people on this board are sponsored or work or just love their products...so they show their love.

They are not just sponsors, they are also friends. They sponsors hang out with us at dinners, bbq's and they come with us on drives. Most of them are friends first and sponsors second. Thats they way I look at it.:D

That's exactly how I look at it as well... I try to make every Thursday night Dinner meets in OC... I like to think of myself as a friend first instead of a sponsor especially when it's a dinner meet. I mean comon, it's after hours! I can be a sponsor 9AM-5PM, but not during dinner :p

+1
I like the advertisements, easy way to find out what new is coming out, what deals are being offered, and a lot of members on the forum are given good deals. Like Ghostrider said "Friends first and sponsors second".

I hate sponsors...
Oh wait a minute. I'm one...LOL...
Kidding aside, I see what Greg is stating though. He's got some very good points. There's got to be some kind of buffer to not flood this family to be overly-commercialized.
I was one of the few people who used to kick it at meets, drives, etc before Chris decided lets share this to the world. Euro Dyne wasn't even born before MFest I. It was chill, but if IRC, it was the original sponsors that helped alot to popularize the MFest Family. It was also MFest that became the glue to create not only a strong family but a strong network as well. With that notion, these members are strongly supported by us vendors. In return, these members also would like to support us. That to me is a perfect example of love giving and taking :D...The magazines and other forms of media kick in cuz we are news worthy of our love generating formula :D...
Kevin's pointed out a crucial term...we're friends first and sponsors second. Some previous sponsors bounced because they didn't have that notion. They thought of it the other way around. Very business oriented.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that sponsors and car freaks TOGETHER has been the driving force of making our organization much much much stronger and bigger =)...Without the two elements, MFest would just be the same 25 cars as it was a couple of years ago. Either way, I'm happy though. I'm a car freak at first...and well I'm a sponsor at a secondary position. If this was still just the OG group, Euro Dyne would be still present at other communities...but because MFest is here, Euro Dyne wants to show most of its love here...it's really that great of a band of brothers.

Thanks Greg you have some good points and Ghostrider:goldcup:...Mfest is growing at a fast rate and at times I can't keep up especially these past few months, but always try our best to help everyone regardless if their newbies or oldies:) ...This year we have worked so hard to focus on the back end and see what's out there...I thank all the sponsors who have been supporting us from day 1 and for the new sponsors that have and will sign up very soon...Mfest is totally different from the rest and we want to keep it that way, we want to have sponsors hanging out with us, relax, have fun and also who are ENTHUSIAST... heck if we allowed everyone in here we have over 100 sponsors already:D, we want to have the best of the best and also the up and coming shops that have the right stuff but don't get the much needed break they deserve
Were evolving and at the same time we'll definitely keep our grass roots (Camaraderie) and will always thank everyone from Mfesters, Sponsors, Media aswell as haters:D as without you guys Mfest won't be here:hail:...
I'd say to all Mfesters to watch out the list of sponsors starting in December/ January and let's see who stays and who are really down with Mfest:goldcup:

Way to understand and bring perspective. It was just lately most of the threads on top were sponsor generated by just a few. It looked agenda driven that is all. It alsways goes to credibility when genuine users give thumbs up, or down, to products based on their merit, that our sponsors provide. I do appreciate the sponsors because without out a doubt they have added to the enjoyment and education of the membership.

I agree, we need some balance on the forum and the Mfesters need to be more active on the discussion ad also share their own experience

before i became a sponsor i just went about my business installing film on cars, buildings, homes and businesses without much thought of a community. After I met Chris and I dont know how he found me but he showed me he is a man of his word. i never ever made group buys available because customers would always do or say something to get a better price and never delivered on promise of volume business. Chris is the only person i met to have integrity and always delivered.
That first meeting was about 6 years ago now.
I never intended to sponsor any online forum but the feel of community with Mfest was too obvious. I was not asked to sponsor the Mfest like so many other online forums, i asked if i can be apart of the family as a sponsor. I was honored when i was allowed to post my link as a sponsor. there are not enough people like Chris and the Members of Mfest who look after their own.
Mfest if truely a community of brothers and sisters engaged with one another. I am blessed to be a part of it.:o

My $0.02 is that they're all part of the family. It's not that they exclusively post ads, they talk, have fun, go to meets etc. None of the people working for said sponsors would be working there if they didn't have a love for Ms and BMWs in general, and a love for the products they support, and they're simply sharing that with us. I would have never known of EuroDyne for one if it weren't for this forum, and let's face it, a good chunk of the exterior of my car was shipped to me from them. Same with JLeviSW- I had never heard of them before I came here and I'm expecting a package right now. Just to name those that first came to mind.
Not to mention I've never seen specials and even regular prices like the ones our sponsors have in a magazine like I do in the trusted partners thread ;)
