Been meaning to open up this thread for a while. I finally found some extra time to do this. Anyway, we all know that our group is composed of many of the BMW Community's innovators and trend setters. It's because of this group, we push the envelope further and further.

What I would like to see from this thread is to see what FIRST'S did each member has unleashed to the rest of the BMW community.

Examples would be composed of accomplishments, color combos, first guy to install a specific car, etc...A picture or two of what you achieved would be nice too!

My 135 had a lot of 1st for the 1 community:

1st 135 with aFe air scoops (car was used to test fit)
1st 135 with aFe exhaust (car was used for development, I was the one who recommended they use dual tips and offer it in black)
1st 135 with B&M short shifter (car was used for test fit)
And finally 1st out of 135's & 335's to have HPF's logo stenciled on intercooler (didn't let anyone see it until MFest and now everyone getting the intercooler wants it :D)

In Japan they have JASMA, this is the governing body responsible for exhaust systems. The majority of the tuning firms are members and the JASMA plate on the exhaust systems means if conforms to their standards, in terms of noise level, useage, and construction.

The badge is useful for identifying the use of the muffler. Outside of this its anything goes. Many of the exhaust boxs you see are knock offs from China, or somewhere and conform to nothing.

NOTE: Why JASMA? The association was formed to keep the Japanese governement from driving tuning companies out of business. By coming together they were able to get governement sactioning for their exhaust products. Meaning during the shaken (Japanese inspection) the car won't be faulted for having an unauthorized part. They also ensure production quality, train/certify exhaust personel, and stop false claims in advertising. Not all exhaust systems are JASMA stamped meaning they are usually circuit systems, however certain circuit systems are JASMA certified.

Basically, the particular rear section i have was NOT built for use on cars in Japan and the sound produced does not meet with the standard of sound for Japanese exhaust products :)

Is it ok to list my 'Firsts' going back 20 years?! Before the internet, before even BMW specific magazines !

1990 - In my area of West London, for BMW's E30's were weapon of choice, the older guys had E24 635CSi's, the E30's all either ran around with BBS cross spokes or MIM Alpine wheels. I was first to put on 15 inch Racing Dynamic lookalike wheels from Compomotive. Other E30 owners would look confused and ask what they were! That's where the desire to innovate started for me! ;)

1997 - First E30 in the UK to run twin 18 inch Earthquake Subwoofers in the boot/trunk
1998 - First E30 Touring in the UK to run a Cerwin Vega Stroker 18 inch sub
1998 - First E30 in the UK to run type 2 AC Schnitzer 4 stud E30 specific fitment 17 inch wheels, also First to run 225/35/17 tyres as they'd just been released and my trusted wheel/tyre dealer would always call me when he knew I'd get products ;)
1999 - First E30 to have the Dinan rear camber adjustment kit - I innovated so much with that purchase, that no one of the various garages I knew, had an idea how to fit it !! car sold a few weeks later.

Bit of a gap for 'Firsts' however plenty of 'rare' things with various BMW's in the interim -

Rarities (not necessarily first)

2005/6 E30 Touring - E34 M5 3.6 engine, E30 M3 dogleg gearbox, Willy Konig front Seats from speical edition E30 M3 (1 of 8 sets in the world) - was actually a ex biz partners car, he sold it without telling me - idiot!

1997-99, E30 4 dr 325i SE bored to 2.7 with those 17 inch AC Schnitzer wheels and around 100mm of rear drop - 80mm springs and 20mm was the weight of the bass box and twin 18's!

Back to FIRSTs!

Early 2008 - First E39 Touring with Printed Carbon Fibre Vinyl roof wrap. To my knowledge, this has never been emulated by anyone else as they all go for the 3M Di Noc! also First to de-chrome window surround with gloss black vinyl & interior door card top strip.

First E39 Ex Police car to be extensively modified !

Rarity is the genuine Hartge Nova 5 19 inch wheels, never seen them on any other UK car, and only one forum member used to have them in the USA. Only ever seen 2 sets for sale in the last 4 years. Not the 'greatest' looking wheel, but I love the rarity factor!

Carbon Fiber mirrors with Imola Red paint scheme. Plus I took off the the base plates which have tend to corrode on the E46 M3 and I sanded, primed, and painted them black instead of red.
