E92 M3 versus E46 M3

Just curious to what M3 is a better car the new (2008+ BMW M3 E92) or the E46 M3? I find the E46 more fun to drive but then again, I have not been able to drive a new M3 fast yet.

I'm not sure the E9x and E46 question can be one of which is a 'better' M, the two are very different.

I believe this all comes down to personal preference. Go take a test drive and you'll know.

I've had both E92 and E46 M3, Now i have the E92. They both are great cars.

But would take the E92 over my E46.

Because it just has a lot more power. Its just BEAST all around. Amazing Power-DCT

Between the e36, e46, and e92. I would say the e36 with proper engine is the drivers car. Simply because of the weight distribution factor.

If you keep it all "STOCK / OEM", I would have to say e92 of course!!!

If you put 30k into that e46, and completely gut the interior, it will be a beast and have about 500+hp. Also, it should have no problems keeping up! It's all up to you bro!

You cant touch the sound of v8 though ;) ::wink:: lol

I'm also torn on keeping the Z4MC (E46 M3 Motor) or getting the New M3 (E90:D New V8 DCT, the prices are very tempting as of late:) ) i love the Z4MC sooooo much and its one of the most fun cars i've ever had/ driven...but i have to give up one:( (and LoLa is out f the question:D ), so yes i feel some of you guys on which car to choose!

+1:D two cars that belong to two different "time periods"... i'd like to point out though that like the E36 M3, the E46 M3 has definitely made its mark in its class during its "prime". i believe the E9x is still completing its "journey"...

I like the e92 for it's technology and it being new but I feel like having a e46 is like still having a car not a computer. I can still get under the hood and feel like I can do things with the e92 Im affraid of messing things up. Plus I can keep up with a e92 in my e46 for half the price :).

The e9X M3 def. improved overall from the e46 M3 but its hard to compare them because they are in different leagues.

Both are great, I still plan on building an e46 M3 with a custom Gintani set up some day. I cant get over how sick and unique the e46 M3 looks, But I love my e90 M3!

To add to it, as I too have both (the E46 M3 is almost sold) & like stated, they are much different. But what wasn't mentioned is that the new 135i is what is considered the almost equal to the E46 M3 since it is very similar in hp, size & weight. The new E9x M3 is closer to the size of the E39 M5. The E46 has more of a "cockpit" feel to the interior & driving experience and the E9x has a more spacious feel to the interior space compared to the E46 M3. I would love to have the E46 M3 competiton package steering feel in the E9x M3 though!

As far as looks, the E46 M3 is like the Lamborgini Countach though...when it is viewed at any time period to come, it will be a timeless design and always loved. But with that said, I personally feel that my Modded E90 M3 looks so much meaner & sicker compared to my fully modded E46 M3. I have had more people ask if they can take pictures of my E90 M3 with their cell phones than I ever had with the E46 M3 and more head turning as well...so this is where I lay my head with being ok with having to sell the E46 M3 :rolleyes:
