Which tires do you use for your car..
-The better question is "Which tires should I put on my car", as our needs and budgets all vary. I, for example, am crazy and run Nitto NT-01s on the street :drive2: But you should get a set of 245/275 PS2s! Still, IMO, the best street tire out there. The T1Rs are ok, but not as good as the PS2s, and much worse (tread squirm) in hard driving (track, etc.).

Wow, digging up a VERY old thread, at least as far as tire tech goes.
Currently I have to give props to the Hankook Ventis V12. We've gone from PS2s to V12s on both our 540iT and M5. They are as good as the PS2 in every way, and seem to hold up to track abuse even slightly better. If I were to split hairs I would say the V12s turn in a little sharper than the PS2s, and break away at the limit a little sharper as well. But this difference is so slight I don't think most drivers would notice without back-to-back test drives. The biggest advantage of the V12 is the price - a bit more than 1/2 that of a PS2!
The Dunlop Star Spec gets great reviews as well. However it's really an r-comp in terms of wear, costs a bit more than the V12 and weighs 5lbs PER TIRE more than the V12.
The NT01 is still my track tire of choice. The R888 seems to be a little bit better if you get the tire temp/pressures right, but that's trickier than with the NT01. That's why the RA-1 is still in production. The NT05 is an ok dual-purpose tire (like the Dunlop Star Spec), grippier than any high performance street tire and more capable of withstanding heat cycles on-track, but not as precise on-track as a dedicated track tire and wears faster on the street than street tires.

totally agree about the V12's...
keep in mind i'm only a 328 driver, i went from FK452 to V12 and the difference was noticeable even the road noise was lessened
