Good god I'll never understand the point of drifting. Seems like there's no up side to drifting other than controlling a car on the edge. Slower lap times and wasted tires just doesn't seem very exciting to me. Sure it looks cool but I've always said if you're spinning your tires, you're doing something wrong. The rotational movement of the wheel is to accellerate the car. At least thats how I grew up thinking it went.

Although I can appreciate this video, the soothing music and film editing makes the drifting look graceful. A+ :)

To each his own my friend! Circuit bores me to death and grip driving puts me to sleep. Drifting rocks my seesaw!

Trust me bro, you gotta try it to appreciate it. But yes, the tires do take alot of $$.

I've been drifting both as driver and passenger in a 240sx. Don't knock it till you try it. I've tried it so I can knock it lol. But like you said, to each his own. Drifting is pointless to me buy fun to others so the more power to those who like it. I wont disagree that the art of drifting is a skill to be mastered and that it comes to people naturally and not so much to others.

If I ever go drifting again, I'll do it with style and grace... LIKE THIS

Actually, the whole point of drifting (or at least, the originator's main purpose) was to maintain high exit speeds from turns, resulting in faster lap times. But then again, it has been just all about style lately though. :D

Drifting is slower than grip. It's pretty much common sense. Not trying to argue, just correct ya :D

He's got some truth to his comment, don't try to cut his head off right off the bat my friend.

A minimal to moderate amount of rotation pass the apex of a turn can actually get you rotated into the straight properly resulting in a higher speed towards the end of the straight, which eventually leads to faster lap times. ;)

Drift any car of your choice, then I'll grip it, see who gets the better #'s. Lets do it! Speedway in Feb. They allow drifting? lOl

yeah I think on street tires 5~10% slip is actually maximum traction.

Dayum.... sweet pare.
Question for the M5, did you have to change/upgrade your AC condenser on the BMW. Since, it gets super hot there is it holding out.
