My plan is to debut the car at Mfest this year, then hit as many shows thereafter. The car is currently in paint and body and is expected to be completed on, or before April 5th in time for Mfest.
My original thread on this project was started here (http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=275157) at M3forums.net.
Here is a video showing all the work done prior to entering paint and body.

Below are photos of the current paint and body progress.

OHdaammmmnnnnnn Kawasaki green M3
Well, it's not really Kawasaki Green.. it is G12048.. or something like that lol..
It was just a blend number from Dupont, so in some ways, it is 100% unique. It was picked from a color spectrum chart.

Thanks.. I wanted to do something different. I know of only a couple of E46 M3's painted lime green. There is one CSL in Europe painted "Signal Green" and two other M3's with custom lime green metallic colors.
Other than that I don't know of any other ones. It should stick out at shows at any rate :D:thankyou: lol..

The color of your car is crazy homes and the parts list is firme. The color looks like radioactive guacamole but I think it'll work and grab some attention! But you're interior is kinda ****ed up. It looks kinda budget.

Radioactive Guacamole.. haha.. that's pretty funny actually. The color is basically a cross between Porsche Gelb Green and MOPAR Sublime Green.
The interior is hand stitched premium leather. It has a softer feel like you would find on leather furniture. Because of the "soft" nature of the leather, it is not as photogenic as stiff OEM leather. However, I assure you.. it was anything but "budget" lol. The paint alone has 8 coats of Standox 2K clearcoat..
I'm well aware the color combo is risky and there is a chance it simply won't work (If it doesn't.. I'll come up with something else). Getting the right match is not exactly an easy task believe it or not. Also finding balance by breaking up the color scheme with items like the BBS wheels, Red BBK and C/F accents. Until everything comes together, its hard to truly visualize the finished product. The color combo was inspired by this photo..

Thanks.. once they get the car reassembled, they will start the "cut and buff". The car has 7-8 coats of Standox 2K clearcoat. The cut and buff should remove what orange peel is present and any air bubbles etc..

Yeah, the color is definitely controversial. It changes color quite dramatically depending on the light. It goes from a deep rich lime green to an almost florescent yellow.
Problem is... the interior doesn't change color.. so under certain lighting conditions it looks.. well.. strange is the best way to explain it haha..
But.. the paint is simply spectacular. The depth on the clear coat is amazing. Taking 1st place paint at the Import Reactor car show was pretty sensational. It is one of the larger import/tuner car shows in Houston.

Thanks guys for all the comments.
I confirmed that my car was never judged for the car show after recieving a message from Sam with Eurotuner who judged the cars. Mfest, though the event was very impressive and I got to meet some really awesome people and see some impressive cars, I left very disappointed and frustrated.
I arrived late Friday evening and from that point forward the information and communication I received was extremely poor. I'm not that active on this forum so I didn't have the knowledge many others had going into this.
Many of the Mfest volunteers and staff appeared to have not been adequately informed or prepared for the event. Obviously, those who frequently read and participate on this forum probably were better equipped to navigate the lack of communication at the event... unfortunately for me.. it resulted in being given bad information, or no information at all and missing out on both the car show and subsequent interest by Bimmer magazine..
I hope the organizers of Mfest realize the deficiencies that were present at Mfest IV in regards to communication and information dissemination and are able to correct it next year.
They need to realize, not everyone that attends an event promoted as heavily as Mfest IV participates actively on these forums and knows the right people to contact to get answers from.
If your going to have a main registration booth... it needs to be staffed by people who fully understand the event and its itinerary and can point you to the right people if you have questions.
For me, Mfest was a bust.. :(

not to rain on your parade or anything but your car just reminds me of a lime green version of orange fevers car...we've been there and done that. I'm not saying it was done up nicely because it was. Its just that we've seen e46m's up and down and around and around...i'm sure you saw hpf stage 3 e46m...and a few others.
just my two cents. i agree registration was pretty hetic but you have to realize that mfest is not all about the awards, prizes and giveaways, we are about the meeting of new enthusiasts, and making new friends. If you felt you deserved an "award" for showing your car, that is your opinion. Take care and best of luck to you.

Let me try it this way..
This wasn't about winning an award, or not winning an award. This was about attending an event heavily promoted, reaching out to a National audience and then failing to meet the standards of most National and Regional events in terms of communication and information. Maybe I'm being a bit critical because I work in Promotion, Public Relations and Corporate Communications.
Point is, I'm not the only one who was slightly frustrated with the lack of organization. I'm just being more vocal because I traveled 3,200 miles round trip and was given information by Mfest staff that in essence contributed to my not even participating in the car show... which is the primary reason I came. Meeting people and enjoying time with fellow enthusiasts is a given, car show or not. Traveling 3,200 miles, hauling a show car to enter a competition and then not even compete... It was a considerable expense for me. I do not have a sponsor nor am I affiliated with any teams, my build, upkeep and my travel expenses are burdened solely by myself.
Things were unorganized from the start, It took me 2 hours after arriving in Las Vegas to even figure out where to park my trailer. A day before the event was to start, the best I got from Mfest staff when I asked about trailer parking was "We are working on it".
I'm not complaining about the event itself, I enjoyed it and I enjoyed meeting new people, many of whom had followed my build for months. I also do see and respect the amount of effort that Chris and his staff have put into this event. I know quite well what it takes to put events together such as this, it is what I do for a living. However, promoting an event to the extent Mfest IV was promoted comes with some responsibility. Consider the entry fee.. Yes, this included quite a bit, but still quite a premium compared to most major Regional and National events.
If you want Mfest to be a National event.. it needs to be run like one... Not just a "message board" meet on steroids.
Again, folks at Mfest can either see my complaints as someone who is just whining.. or they can learn from it and make Mfest V a more organized event to rival and surpass other National events. The potential is there, it just needs to be polished more.

i'm not here to judge you or anything but if you go way back to when 'mfest' was first started...it was just 5 friends with the same passion going to one place and having a good time. I think you are right, this might just be a "message board" meet on steroids. I'm not too sure what chris' goal was when he first put together mfest 3 and 4 but I think the goal was the same as when this first started. Just a bunch of guys (gals) having a good time.
Like I've said before your car is  not going to lie but I think everyone drove their cars in even the show cars, the only ones to not get driven in are the track cars... I commend you for making the 3,200 mi trek I myself would never, but all in all I'm hoping you had a great time like the rest of us.
I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you in person there was just too many people and I did get to check out your car in person and it is very well done, I think we are more then just a car show and I'm sure you've run events which are far greater then what we had just done but mind you, you had a team of professionals this is the first time Chris had to deal with this big of a crowd and all the volunteers aren't paid to do this, they do this because they are MFEST.
I'm not here to just bash on you I'm sure you've worked hard on your car as many of us did. But we do it because we love to do it as I'm sure you do too. Please if you have any suggestions for Mfest 5 please let mfest chris know because I'm sure he would love all the help he can get.

Sorry for ranting on your thread. Just my 2 cents again, and this has no affiliations with mfest owners or admins, just a member.
No need for disclaimers.. Yes, I had a good time and enjoyed it aside from the issues I already mentioned.
I also realize when your putting an event together on this scale, the little details can be forgotten.
A simple one page flier with information, times, locations and instructions handed out with the t-shirts etc.. could have solved all these problems. Instructing folks on where to meet and when, then having people at those locations with the proper knowledge to instruct.
I had to find out about trailer parking on my own. I was down in the Garage Saturday morning as countless folks walked around unsure as to what to do, who to talk too and how to group up. If I had wanted to go to the Go-Kart event.. I wouldn't even have had a clue how to get there.
I realize Mfest started out as a small group and many of you guys meet on a regular basis and it is through those meets that Mfest has grown. That was quite obvious in how folks grouped up and left for both the track and Coffee and Cars.. That didn't do any good for the folks like me that didn't know anyone, If I hadn't been so persistent, I would have probably missed the one group that did form up for Coffee and Cars..
When you invite folks from across the Country and actually ask them to come.. you need to be prepared to hold those folks hands as they do not know the same people, nor are familiar with the area etc.. You can't assume that everyone will just "know" where they need to be and when.
Again.. a simple hand out with information and having folks in charge be at the places designated at the posted times. It's the simple things that make the difference.
Had I came into California and participated in the Caravan I'm pretty sure I would not have had any of the problems I had. I'm quite sure, enough people would have been able to fill me in.. However I did not.. but if your running a three day event, you need to be prepared for those folks like me that only come for a particular event or time.
Again.. There is no need to get defensive, this should be a learning experience for all.. including me. If I come out to Mfest next year, I will have a better idea what I need to do.. hopefully the organizers will not see my complaints as whining, but see it for what it is and improve the event next year for the better.

I asked for an Iternerary and it was very informative. I take it you didn't ask for one? Usually every show\meet\convention I've ever been to has had iteneraries. As far as the trailer parking goes, I'm sure the hotel staff is very used to accomodating trailers during various events and they could have more than likely helped you. Like someone else said, mostly everyone drove thier cars as thats a big portion of the experience. Sorry to hear that you missed so much. I had the opposite experience that you had. It was my first Mfest, and I knew NOBODY, luckily I am from vegas so I didn't have to travel far (but bet your behind I would). Everyone was great and invited me with open arms to all the events and activites.

I asked for an Iternerary and it was very informative. I take it you didn't ask for one?
I asked a lot of questions.. an itinerary was never provided. I was told by the ladies at the Mfest registration booth that there wasn't any awards for a car show and didn't know anything about a car show..
Like I said.. I imagine if I had showed up for the Caravan, my experience would have been quite a bit different. It seems the majority of the info was given at that time.. us late arrivals had to fend for ourselves.
As can been seen by the numerous pictures taken at Mfest.. hardly a single one was snapped of my car. This was because after "asking" where to park for the car show, I was directed to the fringes of the event to park. Many folks who were looking for my car didn't even know I had shown up lol...
None of the folks parked around me even knew anything about a show.. in fact, by about 2PM when i left.. half the cars you see parked around me had left..
So much for the "car show" parking?

I was a little confused about the car show too. I think next time we should do a car show separate from the track day. Sucks that you had the lack of info, I'm sure MFV will be even better than the awesome weekend it already was! And I hope you come back for V cuz I literally checked out your car for like 20 minutes or more in the parking garage!

A detailed Itinerary with all the information and addresses was given out to participants who registered at the Palazzo Hotel Conference room. The same itinerary was posted on the forums and facebook page for people who couldnt make it to the registration. How else do you want them to be handed out?
If you have all that time you take photos of your build journal and write about it on the forum, I dont see why you dont have 2 mins to take a look at the itinerary and print it out before you drive to Vegas?
When you invite folks from across the Country and actually ask them to come.. you need to be prepared to hold those folks hands as they do not know the same people, nor are familiar with the area etc.. You can't assume that everyone will just "know" where they need to be and when.
Again.. a simple hand out with information and having folks in charge be at the places designated at the posted times. It's the simple things that make the difference.
Im not here to bash on you or anything but, this line cracks me up, "hold those folks hands". MFest's goal is to bring all the enthusiasts together thru camaraderie, not to babysit them. When you're attending such a huge event that has hundreds of participants, you can't expect their handful number of staffs to be waiting to roll out a red carpet for you. There are hundreds of other participants including folks from across the nation and other parts of the world too.
That's my 2cents.

With all that said, you're car is sick. I give you mad props for all the time and money you put in your car. However, there are other insane E46 M3s at the event too. I think it's well deserved for those who won and Sam@Euroturner did a great job picking the cars. For someone who analyzes and writes about cars all day, if you're car deserved to win, Im sure it will at the upcoming events.
Excellent journal, best of luck!

i was actually refering to the picture you got of your car and 2awards not the mfest car show... but im sorry to hear u dint enjoy mfest as it should it will be a note taken im preety sure mfest will improve as it grows...

Dude, this thing was promoted with full page adds in at least two National Magazines.. Bimmer Magazine and Euro Tuner.. I didn't see anything in those adds about reading Facebook or this Forum for information.
Have you been to any major events? I guess you haven't or you would know the huge difference in how they are run. I know this may come as a huge shock to you.. but some of us are busy with jobs, families etc.. and don't have time to read these forums or check out Facebook.. Some of us aren't the Nintendo generation and have all day to f"off on the internet.
I did just what the add stated.. I registered at Mfest.com. That is when I found out about this forum and put my build thread on it.. All I did was just mirror what I was posting at M3forums which is pretty much the only forum I spend any amount of time on and it's not much time at that.
What's with this bull**** trying to put the blame on me? I didn't make it to the Friday registration cause I was too busy trying to figure out where to park my goddamn 20' trailer. Nobody at Mfest could give me any info.. I had to circle jerk with the Palazzo staff to figure it out on my own. You have any idea what it is like trying to pull a 20' enclosed trailer around the strip at 4PM on a Friday after traveling 1,600 miles?? Let me give you a clue.. it blew major ass.
When I arrived I asked Mfest staff that was present what I needed to do, they told me to register at the track and that is exactly what I did. It was that same registration booth that told me they didn't know anything about a car show. It was Mfest staff that parked me way out in bum **** egypt..
I'm sorry guy, but I don't have Chris on speed dial. I didn't even know what the guy looked like until Sunday. I don't know anyone on this forum, I don't actively participate on this forum and I don't spend much time on Facebook either for that matter.
I have been going to automotive events across this country for 20 years, from drag racing, to car shows and rally's. I have never seen a Nationally advertised event so unorganized in my life..
You want to blame me? I didn't do enough? This is what happens when a small local meet tries to go National but tries to run the event like a local meet.. When you put full page adds in National magazines.. you need to be prepared to handle folks like me that don't know dick about Mfest other than the event itself.
Seriously guy, you think I drove half way across the Country to this show to make this stuff up?
Mfest organizers I'm sure are quite well aware of the deficiencies that were present at the event. I've talked to enough folks already who share my same sentiment, they are just not as vocal about it as I am..

All info was on Mfest.com but I know and understand your frustrations and as i have emailed you last week before you posted about it and said it is duly noted we'll improve it next time around, there's no more on this topic that have not been said or posted by you or other members aswell, so lets move on and request you and everyone else here keep everything on topic from this point on (which is your build journal) thanks bradah...

I agree, my initial post was simply to state the problems I had and I believe I did so in a professional manner in the hopes that Mfest staff would recognize them. I also apologize if the tone got harsh, but having forum members ridicule me instead of having a productive discussion on ways to improve the problem pushed my buttons a little.
As I said previously, I enjoyed the event itself and I enjoyed meeting new folks. I will also say that the majority of the folks that I spent time with and who were the most friendly, were folks like me that were from out of town and didn't know anyone.
You guys need to keep one thing in mind.. Everyone here, mainly the local folks, view Mfest as a family. You guys meet on a regular basis and all know each other quite well. When you begin to reach out to a National audience however your bringing strangers into your house.
Mfest folks need to understand that Human nature is to make clicks, packs and clans. One thing I noticed at Mfest, was that regulars kept together close and knew what was going on. There wasn't enough designated staff to help out guys like me. Because the Mfest regulars did not go out of their way to reach out to us new guys in order to overcome the lack of staff.. we out of town folks had to group up and that was basically like the blind leading the blind.
For the most part, everyone I met was very friendly and did their best to help.. but you have to realize.. the event was very clickish..

I completely feel you bro, and I am very confident that Chris and Mfest will hear and fix your concerns. I've said it before and I will say it again that Mfest is getting better and better year after year. Mad respect on what you have done to your car!
