I can't speak for all types of FI, but I had a roots blower on my E36, and it hit like a hammer. The boost build was all of sudden so you would have all 10 PSI at 2500 RPMS, and you would get this sudden explosion or torque..

I hear that centrifugal blowers like ASA, Vortech, etc... have a gradual boost build which makes the car not seem as fast.

I've driven a modified tt and the boost was instant at lower rpm, i am quite interested on BMW's...I can't speak for all types of FI, but I had a roots blower on my E36, and it hit like a hammer. MY mini and my 944 turbo felt great! The mini's boost being S/c feels alot smoother and alot more suitible for a tight track, The 944 turbo would get the craziest power surge out of any car... ever! hahanaa, but it was insane the transition from 3000rpm (no boost) to 4250rpm(full 19psi boost)...
