Well, I'm a bit exhausted...took a 6:20 pm flight out to Phoenix yesterday evening, picked up by my brother to get my '08 E90 M3 from his house in Scottsdale, AZ. Left there at around 9:30 pm & got home about 45 min. ago (4:15am)! Car is filthy, so will post pics once I get it washed & detailed! Oh...I'm now only 250 miles till 1200 mile break-in!!!

your thoughts on the new M3 on long trips compared to the e46 M3...

My thoughts on the new E90 M3 since getting it has been, hands down it blows the E46 away as a daily driver (which is what I was looking for). Even with keeping to the break-in, there is a lot more at tap to 5500 RPM & it's gonna be insane when the car can go all out!

That is a sweet daily driver! Congrats on the smooth pick up and drive back. Must be nice to have it in your hands.

What in particular makes it a better daily driver? suspension comfort, noise level, mpg?

-It is a pretty smooth ride on the comfort setting.

-I haven't driven a manual E46, but know of the knotchy start from a stand still, similar to SMGs...the E9x M3 gearbox is easy on driving from a stand still. I know the torque is so much on the E9x M3 that you can completely let the clutch out & you move without stalling right away! Same when in reverse.

Basically like me & Zeddy4me discussed, the new M3 is a lot more like a luxory sports car with all the amenities but with the true heart & soul of a sports car, so a lot more feel the E46 is the best all around sports car & that the E9x is too civilized...but that's what I'm looking for.in a daily driver...technology just gets better!
