Debating whether I should swap a currently manual seats to power seats?! I have read a few insight on this like the longevity of manual seats and greater head room. DIY on swap seems a PIA due to wiring. Anyone here done a swap? Thoughts?!

I've always had power seats and went with manual in the 1 series and I love them. I rarely adjust my seats anyways, and it's much quicker with the manual + they're lighter :D

If you're the only one driving the car, stay with the manual seats. Less weight too.

Yeah, this was one of the key points. I can't remember the last time I changed the settings on my seats.

Yeah, it's weird. You would think power would be better.

But the thing I like about manual, is that you can always put them back into the exact position you like, since there are just a few limited settings.

With power seats, there are so many various and infinitely variable adjustments, that I'd constantly be fiddling with them and re-setting the memories, to find that perfect position.

I like to program 3 different settings...then on a trip I can hit an entirely different setting to change my body position...sometimes I also like to fiddle with my arm position while driving.

I like the powered seats I have.

It has 3 programmable settings. I use:

1- Normal driving
2- Hitting the twisties
3- The GF's setttings....

I especially like how my mirrors are on memory with it, so when I switch from 1 to 2, the mirrors move too!

Yeah that could be one thing I would miss with the power seats... the tilt mirror feature. Use that alot when parallel parking, both mirrors tilt down. :)
