professional AMA WSBK or MotoGP Superbike rider.
I racked up a couple of amateur trophies at WSMC in Willow Springs. Now I just scrape knees there for fun running track days.
Fast cars are cool, but nothing compares to a bike leant over, 150+, and the sound of your knee scraping on turn eight of Willow. no car will ever give that adrenaline rush, period.

Go for it. Anyone who sells a Ford GT solely because of a bad aftermarket alarm install, should be replaced, on the grounds of delusional...
At least he came to his senses and bought the car back. But can the guy be any more overdramatic?
On the other hand, Love the Stig...

I had ridden motorcycles for over two decades and owned a total of 11 different sport and street motorcycles over the years (not more than 2 at any given time). I worked in the industry for several years, including as an instructor and managing director of a national foundation dedicated to motorcycles. I'd driven Willow Springs turn 8 in my 2001 modified e39 M5, 395.5 rwhp, but never done Willow on a motorcycle, I bet it is truly amazing.
I've test ridden the Nurburgring for BMW on the K1200S, their fastest BMW production motorcycle in history at the time. I went at times over 150 mph+, but definitely not anywhere near 150 mph+ in any of the corners on the Nordschleife.
From my own personal experience, in the past, I honestly never would have thought that anything could provide a similar adrenaline rush to a motorcycle, ever.
But I will say, that every single time I get into my GT, I feel a rush of adrenaline just thinking about it. It was the one thing that I knew that I could leave the motorcycle experience for, without too much remorse.
Motorcycles will always be my first love, and a high performance sports car may not be quite the same thing, but it's definitely much closer than anything else I've ever experienced.
Definitely enjoy your two wheeled rocket, and all the best for going professional. The track and closed courses are the best and safest place to explore limits.

I would like to work in the field of Automotive Design. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was a kid. During high school, I visited the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and I knew that’s what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, after high school, I went on to jc and didn’t pursue a career in automotive design, for a number of reasons. Financial restrictions being the main factor.
A few years ago, (still very much interested in automotive design) I was offered a position at a world renowned automotive prototype/concept vehicle engineering and manufacturing company (the equivalent of Italy’s Pininfarina), here in Orange County. The position was not in the design field, but rather in project management. I saw this as a great opportunity to enter the industry and get a feel of what it’s like behind the scenes. Needless to say, I quit my job and took the position.
I was with them for a couple years, and I think I learned more then, than I had in all my previous jobs combined lol. I got to meet a lot of chief and top designers from many car companies, as well as other notable designers and figures in the automotive world.
The most fascinating and exciting part of the job though, was getting to see/touch/be part of , top secret concept & prototype cars being built from the ground up. Literally. From a rendering – to running & fully functional piece of machinery on the showroom floor. I got to see many of the vehicles on the road today, in their infant stages, before they were given the green light for production, or even made public.
Most of you probably know this, but some of you may not…. Many of the concept/prototype vehicles that you see in magazines and those that are debuted at international car shows, such as; Detroit, LA, Paris, Geneva, etc., are not necessarily built in house by their respective manufacturer (for a number of reasons). Some of them are, but not all. A good deal of them are contracted out to this company. The car companies don’t want you to know this, hence why you’ve probably never heard of them.
So anyhow, I no longer work for this company, but it was definitely a great experience. It gave me great insight as to what goes on behind the scenes when designing and building a new vehicle. I don’t know if I will continue to pursue a career in automotive design, but if I do, I’m sure the knowledge I gained here will definitely prove useful, and perhaps give me an edge ;)
Here's a link to a video of one of the vehicles they built- the CHRYSLER ME412 (http://www.metalcrafters.com/photogallery/restoration/chryslerME.WMV) ...

Agent 31, thanks for sharing this, very interesting to read about your life experience in the automotive design industry.
Even if you decide to pursue an alternative career, it sounds like the experience will be valuable.
I really believe that everything you do, makes you who you are, and helps you succeed at every other job to follow. A design perspective is not something that everyone has.

In one of my former careers, I was a porftolio investment specialist. One of the chartered financial analysts used to always tell me about his brother in law that owned a nice one man stainless steel hot dog cart, and cleared like $80K net a year (and that was almost 10 years ago) just setting up his cart and selling hot dogs, and most important of all, he enjoyed it, and it was low stress.

I like this comment...and believe me I pursue and finished a BSN as my passion is with helping people, kinda went sideways as i really love cars (especially the people behind them) and for the heck of it I pursued it as i thought to myself "we only live once" :D ( i still do Nursing but on a much lowered hours), and here i am making 1/4 of what i could have made :D BUT no complaints or whatsoever as it gave me a sense of being "ME" and what i wanted to share with everyone the "Camaraderie" which we lost years ago due to too much drama and politics on the forums...and i hope thru Mfest that will change jmho...
