I'm tossing this idea around in my head of swapping out my motor out of my 540 for a n62b48 if its possible. Anyone heard of anything close or along these lines and if anyone has any info on anything that would need to be done. I just see that it should be a similar motor and has a lil' more power. Any input would be appreciated:dunno:

Very interesting project, Ive seen S62 swap but not N62 but I'm sure N62 will be easier...

Well after checking a few other sources all I could come up with is that the bell housings for all of the v8's are the same? Not exactly sure but willing enough to try it....No info on the oil pan clearance or whether the pan from the m62 will go on the n62. More research ahead of me...

So....I can't find an N62 anywhere close to here and def don't wanna pay shipping from BFE to here. Buying a spare M62 and building it on the side.....for boost. Turbo boost and no one is gonna convince me to go s/c unless they pose a good argument on why not to!
Its been done but its a little bit of work. Is that the 4.6L out of the X5?

The N62B48 comes in two versions, both displacing 4.8 L (4799 cc/292 in³). The first is a 265 kW (360 hp)/500 N·m (369 ft·lbf) used in the BMW X5 4.8iSA, while a different tune is used for the 270 kW (367 hp)/490 N·m (361 ft·lbf) version. Bore is 93 mm and stroke is 88.3 mm.
Applications:
265 kW (360 hp) and 500 N·m (369 ft·lbf)
2005-2006 E53 X5 4.8iSA SAV
270 kW (367 hp) and 490 N·m (361 ft·lbf)
2006-2008 E65/E66 750i/750Li
2006-2010 E60/E61 550i Sedan and Touring
2006-2010 E63/E64 650i Coupè and Convertible
2007-2010 E70 X5 4.8i SAV
2003-Present Wiesmann GT MF4 / Roadster MF4
2008-Present Morgan Aero 8 Series 4 and AEROMAX
I've seen more S62s put in E38s than E39s haha I'd love a 4.6L from the X5 in mine. I dont need that much power like the S62
