Nexans ftw! LMAO! Got them for an excellent price, and needed em asap... I must say for a cheap POS it is a great Bang for buck tire! Dont remember the model number off the top of my head but they look like nitto's high performance street tire...

Track: Toyo RA-1s, or R888s

AutoX: Kuhmo V710s or V700s

+1 R888
+1 PS2 (if you need a road/track tire)

I hate Pirelli's , but the Pzero Rosso is a good track/street tire... (sucks on street! so damn noisy and no life span)

I used to run RA-1s and loved them. The R888 is a superior track tire to the RA-1. I have a friend in Temecula who seriously tracks an E36 lightweight (WAY faster than my M Coupe) with onboard timing, etc. He said that he picked up over 2 seconds/lap at Cal Speedway just from switching from R888s to the NT-01 (which I have been running recently). He has no ties to Toyo or Nitto, and I trust his "professional" opinion.

From my subjective analysis I'd say the NT-01s are at least as good as the RA-1, and are less expensive to boot.

p.s. If you are looking for a street tire that will also perform decently on the track, the PS2 is IT.

I have run the RA-1's and now have the 888's on the front, recently switched from the year. The 888's are louder than the RA-1's. I know the 888 have tested better than the RA-1's, however I have not felt the same having them on the track 3x now. I might feel different once I have switch back to RA-1's

If you are looking a good track tire, you have to start with a R-Compound tire. If you are going to drive the car, then you will need a DOT tire, both Nitto and Toyo are good choices, and the feed back I've heard is the Nitto overall would be a better "track tire" and noisey or not, it won't matter because you are on the track!
Those are both DOT tires, Hoosiers would be even better, but you will have to have a second set of wheels and put these on at the track.

I would recommend R-Comps for more seasoned track drivers, but not for the first few times... there is enough car to go around w/o the need for extra grip!

Once you move to the intermediate and advanced groups, then an R-Comp is a good idea: save on your street tires, and get more grip!

I've tried a bunch, from Hoosier S6 to V710s, but I like the R888s the best. I'm currently running a 275 square setup on 4 rear OEM 18s... cheap, and effective!
