You don't need driving school experience. When signing up on the registration form, just select "beginner." You will run with the beginner class.

MCR, please read my post here from the m5board to ensure a spot:
For those who want to participate, it is only $10. We shall find a meeting point, probably in the San Gabriel Valley Area. It'll take about 1-1.5 hours from there, depending on how long we loiter at the gas station(s)!!! Event time, IIRC, will be @ 7:30am. I guess we can roll up at 6? Meet at like 5:20ish at a Starbucks and chill for a bit. Because this is a not a last minute thing, I do urge all to at least call Livia Chang or Priscilla Mercado at 626-570-8444. She (don't remember which girl) returns her calls, so leave her a message. Or email Livia at livia.chang@ncbmw.com Perhaps you can at least join the free club and then register for the event, even if it is tentative.

bump cus i won't be able to make it i have to go up north for my gf's family weak.....
Ok guys. 1 week away, and it looks like a well planned event from NCBMW. This is my 1st event with NCBMW, and their setup looks to be very professional. I have been to BMW NA and Speed Ventures events (not many), and the SpeedTrialUSA co-promoted by New Century looks promising.
The laps are not timed, and therefore is considered Driver's Ed / Practice. Great for Insurance purposes, b/c many insurance co will have some kind of clause for timed events in case poop happens. This way, we are safe to have fun, wring out our cars, wear down the brakes and tear up some tires. Testing the limits of your car in a safe environment. Looks to be a limited amount of cars on track, and lots of long sessions throughout the day (20 minute sessions). I think we are allowed to go balls out on the track, as well as some driver's ed for Beginner Groups.
Weather is said to be Sunny with high's in the 68 range, so it'll be quite chilly. Bring a jacket, lots of water and a spare quart of oil for you M Cars out there. The event will be broken up into 4 groups. It'll take about 1hr 40 mins to get there from our meeting point. They say arrive at 7:30 am. We will leave at 6 am to ensure that no one is speeding. We must represent and be responsible driving up there. I have been to this track before, and the stretch of hwy there is very tempting. CHP will always be on high alert there, and your Valentine will not save you if they are shooting Laser or Instant On and you are doing triple digits. We are going to a track, so driving irresponsibly is not called for on public roads. You'll have your chance to let it all hang out. I am going to try my best not to be a hypocrite here...
Things to bring:
A Road Racing Helmet (or 2 if you are to have a passenger). There may be loaners there, but may be limited. I have no problem lending mine out if we are in separate run groups (if you don't mind some Lice and my L helmet size)
Plenty of Water. Usually, a good event will have plenty. I won't bet on it. BYOW.
Check your Tire Pressures. Typically around 36-38 cold all around. It'll heat up to over 40 on the track for sure.
Torque your lugs to according to the owner's manual.
Check all fluids.
Do not keep loose items in the car or trunk.
Bring a jacket, it's going to be cold.
If applicable, please bring all documentation and the likes that New Century BMW sent you. (Event Pass, Ticket, Membership Card, etc)
This is the schedule:

Dang, why can't this event be on a different weekends  I paid close to $500 for my first clinic event at Fontana, CA at Speedway (2 days... learned a lot) and this is only $10?!?! I'm sure this if this event required you to have a inspection and signed off prior to the event! If you are available and have no other plans i highly recommend attending events like this!

For those who went, how did it turn out?
I was suppose to attend the event, I had the ticket and everything ready and then something came up. I missed out. =[
It was pretty cool. 5 of us rolled up thru Angeles Crest (really nice drive in the morning) and got in 6-7 sessions. They opened a Open Skidpad in the morning and allowed people to just drift, donuts, whatever. They then opened the full course and let the Intermediate and Advanced guys do whatever we wanted.... pass on the turns and all. no regulations. The Beginners got a lot of 1-on-1 instruction.
Not too crwoded, and if you stayed till the end like I did, the last 2 sessions were pretty empty and you pretty much got to drive almost solo on the track.
There was also track photogs selling pics like any other event. Free water and one hot chick walking around talking to everyone (she was selling something... and it's not what you think). All in all, a pretty decent event for $10.... actually great for the price. There was also a drift club at HTM and a Porsche Race Day at Big Willow for us to see and hear.
