Thanks, one can hope. I am sure they'll be a ton of applicants, I just hope that my daily drive down the worst section of the 405 and my charming personality is enough to set me apart from the pack.

Maybe I should have mentioned ///MFest.

Seriously, you gotta work it. Never give up hope. When I applied to test ride for BMW Motorcycles on the Nurburgring, over 12,000 motorcyclists applied in round one. It was my dream and I hung in there and was fortunate. I don't live in the test area for the MINI, but your 405 commute (and hopefully expressed and genuine love for all things both MINI and environmental) will hopefully give you a strong chance. I gotta figure that demand will be huge.

That you are an active member of a community to BMW Motorsports with a special dedicated section for the MINI enthusiast, you definitely should mention it.

I'm going to do this tomorrow when I have some time. Hopefully I'm within the area.

From Kbb.com:

Given the MINI Cooper's reputation for frugality it makes sense that BMW would choose it to show off the automaker's electric powertrain efforts. The MINI's small size presented a number of challenges, though, not the least of which was its ability to accommodate the sizable Lithium-ion battery pack which wound up occupying the space previously reserved for the back seats. The two-seat MINI E has a range of 124 to 156 miles per charge, can hit 60 mph in about eight seconds and tops out at a respectable 95 miles per hour, according to the company. While not necessarily destined for mass consumption yet, residents of Los Angeles and New York will have the opportunity to pay a hefty $850 per month to lease a MINI E for one year. If you're interested, be sure to fill out the online application as soon as possible because there are only 500 leases available.

My Land Rover off roading buddy Ed just got notified that he qualified for the E Mini program through Crevier!!!

10,000 applicants...And he got picked one of 29 winners for Crevier...

They will check his house wiring for compatibility and he is good to go. I'll keep you posted when he takes delivery...

Also, it only fits two people, since the batteries.

I didn't try out for the contest.

But should be fun, I think my friend will enjoy it. It's obviously environmentally focused and not performance oriented.

Actually, it turns out that there were 1,800 applicants (Not 10,000 like I originally heard yesterday).

There were 9,500 original inquiries of interest.

But the requirements, such as home with electrical specifications, lockable garage, $850 lease, likely reduced some of the applications.

In any event, should be fun and he is looking forward to it.

My friend is still waiting to get his eMini delivered. Now the wall chargers are going through UL listing. They are talking April now for delivery...

Yeah, it's definitely expensive during this time.
