View Full Version : Drifting event/class
This is sort of a feeler to gauge any possible interest on SoCal people who might be interested in attending a drifting class/event. It'll be with instructors and on a track, and have classes for beginners and intermediates. I'm attending and, of course, am angling for a Group Buy rate.
If so, do you prefer weekends or is a week day ok (less expensive on a week day)? And, would you use your own car, or pay more and use their prep'd cars?
There might be one on a weekday in mid-December at Willow Springs...
PM me if interested plz.
Addendum: intermediate is instructed by an active Formula D driver. And, we should be able to do a weekend thing if there's enough interest/participants.

What's the price on the prepped vehicle?
What's the price on the prepped vehicle?
Non-group rate is $700 for full day for beginner class & $900 for full day for intermediate class ($400 & $500, respectively, if you bring your own car). I took the beginner one using their car a year ago and I had a blast and IMO was worth the money. But YMMV, of course, and that's why I'm looking to bring down those rates w/ a group buy.

I'm interested but out, I won't have a car until mid-January, and my track wheels have no tires on them ATM. Could drift on the OE's, but problem #1 is still there.

Intermediate is taught by Taka Aono, who competes in Formula D.

Well, even if we somehow delay or otherwise time the gig for mid-January, are you sure you want to use your car that hasn't had the break-in 1,200 mile service?
Especially in the beginner class, where you wind up thrashing around a lot (lots of donuts around a cone, both clockwise & counter-clockwise, and then figure-8's), I think it's better to pay a bit more and use their car & tires. When I took it about a year ago, I blew out a rear tire (their car) being so heavy-footed. Thank g0d it wasn't my OE's ($980 for the rear pair of Michelins!).

i would playa but i am to busy for these stupid holidays with work and family, maybe next time.
I'm wondering if it'll be better for everyone to avoid December/holidays & do this in... mid-January.
