The M5Board guys are simply older so they're just not that into this type of mods and stuff. They believe OEM is THE way to go unless its DINAN, ACS, or Alpina parts. If they had CF parts they would paint it rather than having that two-tone look everyone seems to like on this forum. So its mainly an "age-group" thing, I'm sure if you went to these forums with "older" members and post up any modded car you'll get negative feedback because that's just how they like their bmw, stock to lightly modded, none of this cf, alcantara, f/i, 20" wheels, all windows plastered with decals, vinyl wrap, 8000k, etc, etc..... you get the point...

Man they really took the time to research and what not :laughhard: i know 90 percent of the guys who posted in there, some members here and I've seen most of their cars:D...Don't worry Dave their cool peeps and sometimes can be harsh but take it like a grain of salt and don't take it seriously like others, ...You build your car the way you liked it and YOU can never please everyone bradah (I've learned that alot since starting Mfest)...What matters most is you love your car, period! Us here at Mfest loves your car:goldcup:

Being out of the sandbox scares the older kids who still stuck in the box. Shows you got balls. I've seen my share of OEM styled modding and out of the box modding too. As long as you stick to one theme and be consistent, you'll be fine.

The bumper is definitely aggressive compared to E39 OEM lines. I know for sure you're not just going to stop there. Once you've progressed, these "haters" will eventually see a more finished product and will flock towards being imitators.

0ne thing that i can say is that any creative design will receive a percentile of people who dont like it. Never will you find that 100% of the people like something.........unless it is very plain and bland(instant oatmeal) hence the term that i coined oatmeal eaters several Mfests ago. If you've done something unique and different and nobody says anything negative then you didnt go far enough with the design. I think it looks great, but if you want to have less haters then delete the black accents around the grille openings which will decrease the overall size that the openings appear and make it more simple. Otherwise enjoy your sick e39!!

Lmao not mad just funny because I was searching prior design e39 yesterday on google and then I saw that pic which went to the m5 board forum then I saw the posts and started laughing like crazy. Doesn't hurt me n I don't care what they think about my car I like it thats why I did it and Big Thanks to you Chris for helping me step out of the sandbox :goldcup:. Just funny how they think a stock is better then anything else.

yes i had a evo x mr ....it was a bad ass track car, trust me.... i was at Mfest last yr in my evo putting in work ...lmao.. but i dont miss it at all after my new E90 to be honest..

I love the Prior design kit for the E39. I am considering it if I take my E39 down the VIP route (just going to wait and see how it looks after the coilovers go on and I get bigger wheels) but I've found that M5 Board tends to be a little on the traditionalist side and don't really like anything too flashy.

Common man, we all know your car is pure BEAUTY. Don't let them bother you, yes we all have our own taste, but many of us on Mfest have the same taste. And i can truly say your car is beautiful and amazing. M5 board would want m5 rep body kit and wheels everyone has. In my opinion they should give you props on going out of the box. and say something positive. but we all know people say negative things and talk **** before then can embrace something and compliment it.

This aspect of BMW ownerships will always be around, and the BMW 'Purists' will always turn their nose up at almost 'anything' aftermarket - believe me, I got grief back in 1990 when I put on a set of 15 inch Racing Dynamics replicas on my mum's E30 with the what we all now know to be the usual 'oh its not BMW so you've ruined it' comments!

The E39 is one of those designs which is very smooth and elegant, and as such, it's quite difficult in terms of design to get something which both flows well with the original design and looks different enough for we modifiers to immediatley spot and appreciate. I got some 'comments' for the ExoticsTuning E39 front lip spoiler for instance - I really like it, and currently I'm the only E39 on the scene with it fitted in the UK!
