I think you guys inspired one member and he just bought a Mini cooperS (picked it up yesterday) i'm sure he'll chime in pretty soon:D Mike and Randy give him and her the run down on the mods:D

What year did this person buy? I dont know much about the R56 but I am willing to learn and research for him... If its an R53 then I can show him the light! If you want a connected, raw and Go-kart like feeling(It feels like Im in an F-1 car!), Then you get the r53... If you want a smoother daily driver feeling car that is still capable of destroying the twisties with a little more space then the r56 is the way to go...

I will already guess that it is likely going to be one of the funnest cars you have ever driven.

Reminds me of the feel of my 1984 VW Rabbit GTI, only it handles better, is faster, built much better, and has air conditioning (heheh)...

Awesome! Mini's FTW! When you looking to mod it? I can steer you towards your goals and best bang for your bucks... $2,000 and you will have a very fun mini, pully, tune, one-ball mod(uses stock exhaust), RMW Cam... thats all you need to be past 205whp, and you can have a rear sway tsw springs and rear camber links...

It was fun checking out your MINI and comparing and contrasting the differences in gearing, ride quality, handling, options.

Hope to perhaps see you in Oahu someday if I can get over there later this year.

I won the first stage, but someone off my team swiped the briefcase of Gold Bars from me, and then it was every MINI for themselves. I got it back later by winning a later stage.

Chris - the sweet wing is on the red MINI parked next to mine at a impromptu Spectrum meet yesterday.

I did my first official auto cross today with BMW CCA at AutoClub Speedway.

It was dry and hot, but learned a lot, met some new friends, and even got to leave with a nice memento of the day, in the MINI Cooper modified class.

Hi Whisky,

There's enough MINI's in Southern California, that I've heard most of the BMW CCA Autocrosses have divisions for MINI's, stock and modified.

There were other MINI's at this event, supercharged and turbo, so a variety of years.

I was lucky to have a really outstanding instructor in the morning practice session. He took the time to listen to my early lap experience, and then looked carefully at my car and pointed out a lot of helpful information on how my front tires were wearing (some minor edge chunking), and what I should be listening for, and how to appropriately correct. It made a huge difference.
