BBS files for Bankruptcy

It's in german but I translated the most important info.
  • Filed for Bankruptcy on 12.30.2010
  • Prior to Christmas were discussions of Investors pumping money in to BBS
  • Details for Bankruptcy is unknown at this point
  • Employees haven't been paid for December
  • BBS Factory in Herbolzheim is possibly being sold to Ronal AG
  • BBS wants to specialize again (motorsport) and leave the consumer maket.

Basically they are doing some restructuring and focus on their core market = Motorsport

I think BBS will retain even more value now. Depending of the outcome.

This is very shocking due the huge number of Motorsports teams that use BBS are their wheels as well as the huge number of people who use them in the consumer world.

My take on this:
BBS core product to begin with was motprsport wheels. As they grew and started making Wheels for major car manufacturers they had to expand to meet the demands from BMW, Porsche, GM etc......when the economy took a dump production slowed, inventrory grew, employees had to get paid etc. That part of their business over the years brought in most of the $$ for them. Now the money isn't there anymore.

I believe their performance line and mototsports line remained smaller and grew much slower. < basically easier to control and forecast. That's why thy are going back to basics....do what you do best!

Sorry for any weird typos. I'm writing this from my phone trying to go to sleep. To lazy to proof read.
