Hi,

Importing cars into the USA is alot of a pain in the butt ! however, I do believe it's much easier to do from Canada only. To import from any other countries and there's standards to meet in the form of EPA and DOT and other costs etc etc. It's only the very higher end or really rare examples of sought after cars that potential owners go through the masses of red tape to have in the USA.

The other way around, importing a car from the US to the UK, is relatively easy peasy - 2004 to 2010 I had a 2003 F150 Harley Davidson Anniversary edition truck here, took about 5 weeks to sort all the paperwork out and an 20 day sailing time to get to my driveway!

Here's a link for anyone who's interested in finding out more; http://www.gnkauto.com/ give these guys a call and at least you can speak to people who know about US imports of vehicles directly.

Cheers, Dennis!

just doing the dot/epa is pushing close to 10k on that car let alone the carb issues..... gnk is not cheap when it comes to doing the conversion work (ask me how I know when I got a quote to do my '93 e34 3.8)... look at the '93 wagon enthusiastauto is selling or the '95 sedan that saliya is trying to sell might be a cheaper alternative, plus if you're going to do all the dot/carb stuff, why not the 95 6speed instead?

10k just to bring up to dot/epa specs like bumpers/reinforcements, headlights, sidemarkers, speedo in mph, us spec cats etc, etc.. then thanks to our useless state agency CARB, more stuff needs to be done so BAR (another useless group that feeds on our tax dollars) can put their little stamp of approval before you can get your tags!!! Isnt CA great??
