New M5, Auto only???

This can't be true? What a bummer if it is.

I would honestly be dissapointed but not suprised in the least. There's been rumors of the next M3 being in auto only as well.

Meh, BMW lost my faith after going all FI. FI on an ///M car should be a personal choice, not a manufacturer-instated one.

Personal opinion, of course.

the current M5s have SMG on it for a good reason and i would say for a car like that it would be practical

the new ones i'm not too sure what would be a good one since there hasn't been any tests on it and it hasn't come out yet

Most people can't handle all that power using a traditional manual. Also, there would probably be too much computer assistance involved. BMW doesn't want people to manually break their cars anymore since they would have to pay for the repairs.

Dct is great, but I still think peps should have a choice, and I would be suprised that m cars would not have this choice. But who knows

I sure hope they offer the 6mt option. One of my other BMW buddies was reminding me that they didn't offer the 6mt on the E60 M5 until it hit the states so maybe this will be the same situation?

+1 ... which is a shame.

An update: "...according to MotorTrend the decision lays with the inability of the M Dual Clutch (DCT) transmission to handle the additional torque found in the revamped engine..."
