whats the law for front license plates?

hey everybody, i got a relatively easy/noobish question. is it illegal to drive with no front license plate? i have heard from multiple people that you dont need it in the state of CA, but a few of my buddies have been pulled over and ticketed for not having front plates. one of my friends even got a ticket on his parked car . i know most of you have no front plates, so what have your experiences been? does it just depend on the area?

yeah i've heard CHP around LA has to fill a certain number of ticket quotas everyday. once the speeders are done with they go after the modded guys supposedly. i've been reluctant to take off my front plates, even tho i really want to...

Ive driven thru withou the front plate, but in the words of Tony, "They rarely see the front of the car." hahaha

Also helps that i have no tint at all on my car (still gotta call Hann to fix that haha)

I once called national geographic and inquired as to when they will have a documentary about the migratory patterns of ****'s but they told me they have not yet documented it, and to get a life.
