DCT vs. Manual Drivetrain Losses

I did some research on this as I have a DCT and also some people were spreading false information. I contacted the manufacturers as well as experts in the field and also overlaid a dyno between a supercharged DCT M3 and a supercharged manual M3. Same dyno, same fuel, same SC, same everything.

I forgot to post this here but I thought some of you might enjoy it: DCT vs. Manual Drivetrain Losses

Great write up

The question now though is:

Does the shift speed of the DCT makeup for the deficit of HP loss in the mechanics?

in other words.

In a drag race between these two identical cars, would they be even or otherwise since the DCT shifts faster than a manual?

Not sure what would happen in a drag race. However on the track the DCT is a few tenths faster. Over a 20 + lap race it is significant, yet in the real world it all depends on the driver.

Sorry for the late response.

Yes, the shift speed more than makes up for slight drop in efficiency.

In a drag race, the DCT should be slightly quicker and more consistent.

Your service advisor should be able to tell you. Your paperwork from that service would also say something.
