Question Question for those with a CF trunk

those of you that have a CF trunk, did you put back both shocks that keep the trunk open or just one or none at all? i also heard you can de-gas the shocks, anyone know if it can be done and where? some of the guys on 1Addicts that have installed the same trunk i got said that keeping both shocks will force the trunk to act like a catapult . and even 1 shock does the same...

i'm afraid with both shocks off the trunk could put a lot of pressure at the hinge mounting point and crack and with only 1 shock it could cause it to put more pressure on one side and crack also. so i want to put back both my shocks so it is stock looking and no chance of cracking anything, so if it is possible to get them de-gassed i'd like to go that route....

When I had my cf, I just removed one shock. No problems what so ever. But then again it all depends on how the trunk was manufactured.

I kept both shocks, I'm just always there to catch it before unlocking it.

I kept both of my shocks, opens a little bit quick but no problems and I've had it for over a year.

+1 constantine.

Depends on how rigid the trunk is. If it's not strong/well built, having 2 shocks might cause it to crack etc.

However I have had 2 aftermarket trunks, 1 CF and 1 Phiberglass, kept both shocks and never had any problems.

Looks like most of you used only 1 shock, I'm going to try it with both and if it's too strong then I'll just use 1. Thanks again guys! I will be taking my iCarbon trunk as well as my other parts needed to be painted over to Ranz Motorsports soon

I wonder who he was, I probably know him from 1Addicts....
